$10 rebuy on Stars, about 40 players left. No specific reads, only played maybe 25 hands at this table. Had a nice stack, got crippled KK < AA, doubled up, and now I have JJ. I open-pushed about 4 times as short stack so far and was called once. Id call here, but its close. Youre probably 35% to win and getting 2:1 odds plus blinds, and tripling up makes you a realistic force in the tourney. If it were bubble or in the money Id fold.

It's deep into the money, about 270 places paid.

still not deep enough into the money where moving up one spot outweighs the $EV of tripling up though.

Yeah, with M's so small, I think this ends up being a call. I think there are enough situations where the other two both have an ace or they have something like A-K and 9-9. Also, UTG+1 might have something ridiculous trying to take advantage of FIV. I don't think folding is a huge mistake, but tripling up is really fun.

Bump because we have another almost identical thread, and I'm hoping to get some more input on this one. It was definitely the key hand of the tournament for me.

Damn, that table has some short big-stacks for there being 40 people left. I guess everyone left hung on for as long as they could. You're in the money, you're not gonna get many more shots to make a move like this with a pocket this good or better, and you're already very very short with about 6 BB's left. Call this and hope for the best.
When in doubt, don't fold. See what happens.

I think the reason I'm so tentative here is that the 2nd push is really representing a monster, and I feel like such a schmuck calling there and seeing an overpair. Obviously vs one player I'm breaking my wrist to get it in, but what does the 2nd player have that I can beat? AK or TT? Is his range much wider than that? 99? AQ?

I think it's close, but I prob make the call. As short as they are, I think we can put the first guy on AJs+/66+ and prob AQs+/88+ for the second guy which makes us about 37%. Gamboooooool!!!

I think the first guy's range is actually much wider, but of course it's not him I'm worried about. In his spot I would push probably any pair, and probably something like AT+, KT+, QT+.

Yeah, my ranges were prob a little tight given their stack sizes, but it still shows that you're certainly getting the odds to make the call.

im still not sold that many of these people that get these big online scores are winners when it comes to the live game, which, by the way, is real poker.
