Either someone has the other 7 and will give you action or they won't. Not much to do. That's why people advise leading the flop, just to get as much money as you can when you are good. Slow-playing is not a mistake though, but if you do, I would check the turn as well - not much chance that 2 helped anyone, but they might take a stab after being checked to twice. Or they might hit a flush on the river. It sucks when they spike a 10 or J for a full house though.

The 2 gave people a low draw, I thought I might get some calls from people with some sort of high (queens?) and a good low. I hated to lose half the pot without making them pay to draw at it. Was that bad thinking?

bet the flop. as someone said already, this is a hand where you're either getting action or you're not, and that's pretty much settled already by the flop.the problem with checking the flop, although it might get you some action from a low draw on the turn, is that that low draw might get there (any 3 low cards are getting half the pot from you on ANY low river) and cost you 1/2 the pot. i'd be content with scooping on the flop here.

Thanks to all for their help. I'm in agreement with all who said bet the flop...I think that was a better way to go.I guess I'm still confused on the idea of worrying about a low draw. Are the implied odds for villain good in this case? I feel like making him pay to try for his low is +EV, and it's such a small pot on the flop that I really have no desire to scoop. On the other hand you all are much better than I am so I'm sure you're right. Can anyone clarify for me?

Maybe betting half the pot on the turn gets you action but really, as everyone said, the others had pretty much decided they were done with the hand and any bet would've folded them. And as others said, bet the flop. If you weren't playing too tight, they may have just seen it as a continuation or probe bet of some sort and given you some action.
When in doubt, don't fold. See what happens.

the basic gist of charging low draws in plo8 is that scooping 150 chips or whatever is better than giving someone around a 40% shot (about right with three random low cards on the turn) to take away almost all of your profit on a hand, especially in a tournament setting when you'll want to accumulate chips early in a relatively high variance game.in a cash game, sometimes you will want to try to rope people in, but most of those spots will be either when they hold only two low cards and can be counterfeited (that 40% becomes around 25-30% then) or something similar when you have a low draw of your own.
