Nah, they're going to hoist it in front of your eyes. You going to game 6?
Yes, I have my tickets. Didn't want to use them.

I read somewhere else that he appealed and has been denied. Seems like if he has a copy of that email warning them in advance, that'd be grounds for appeal, especially if his reason for skipping them could've been counterbalanced by sending a single representative - maybe himself or an (adult) assistant coach - and they didn't tell him that in response to his email.I just don't really get why they went to the tournament. The guys could barely make games, they only had 10 healthy players...why not skip the tournament altogether?I mostly just love how incredibly excessive it is. $2,000 for a volunteer coach!? And a year-long suspension...for skipping a ceremony? It's such an extreme reaction I can't think of any other reaction but to laugh. A sternly-worded letter would've been more than sufficient.I think this deserves a campaign to get this guy's fine paid for. Any good websites for that? Seems fishy to just use Paypal - too easy to just keep the money for yourself and no way to limit it to $2k. Maybe we could get Chris to spread the word?

I didn't read much, but it seems like a stupid story, and no one is saying the students shouldn't have been studying for the exams. the coach, or some other adult should have just gone and rep'ed the team as part of their job.

Dunno, after the fact, they say they only needed one representative. Seems a little weird that one adult could acceptably represent a minor hockey team at a tournament's opening ceremonies. What would that do? And why wouldn't the tourney rep tell them to just send one person when he emailed him before the tourney? It definitely is a stupid story, but I don't care if the coach sends a dead chicken with "you suck" on it, he doesn't deserve a $2k fine and a suspension.

After watching the NBA last night, when half of the losing team was in the locker room before the final whistle, I'm reminded of how much I absolutely love the handshake line in the playoffs.

Oh, and could Gary Bettman's voice be any more goddamn annoying? Seriously, does he practice having the most nasal, whiny voice in the entire world, just as a giant "**** you" to remind everyone he can sound that annoying and still be so powerful?Ok, i'll stop posting now.Congrats to the Kings and their fans. I was rooting for the Devils for Brodeur and some of the older guys on their team, but the Kings are a good, deserving team. I hope this is the start of big things for this young Kings team.

Best thing in sports. Even more chilling is how many of the interactions are hugs, and how well the losing teams take the loss. If there is anything that a kid should ever take from hockey, it's the handshake line.

Love the respect in hockey too - guys like Simon Gagne get the cup before Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. Willie Mitchell and Matt Greene get it before Doughty.

Another excellent point. And owner gets it after 3rd string goalie Martin Jones, who never even saw 1 second of ice time. How it should be. Dean Lombardi needs to be recognized for putting this together. He doesn't seem to be getting the coverage I would have thought. PS- every team in the NHL is an idiot for not trying harder to get Richards, Carter and Brown when/if they were available in the last 12 months.

I thought DeBoer's response to being asked about the Bernier ejection was VERY classy!"You know, tonight is about L.A. and letting them celebrate," DeBoer said. "If you want to ask me about that in about a week, I'll give you my honest opinion on it."

Ok, I was being a little tongue in cheek with "everyone is an idiot"...but then again, don't a lot of us think guys like Richards are the ones you win with? I tried to find last night our bet on Philly as our first RTE bet. I realize Richards wasnt lights out, but he is such a good second line C, and while I still think Philly did great in their trades last summer, a few teams missed a real opportunity.

What you didn't see on Camera was Justin Williams giving Bettman the "Come on HURRY THE **** UP AND STOP TALKING" Motion with his hands. It was hilarious in person.Glad to say I was there, not ashamed to say I cried. Not really full blown Ryan Smyth but there were some tears.

Good stuff. I'm very happy for you. It'd be something I remember for the rest of my life to see my home team win a cup in person, and I'm not a quarter of the fan you are.

That was good stuff - after reading it I actually wanted to root for the KIngs (before I remembered I would prefer to root for Brodeur than Simmons' daughter.
