We have two different bets that overlap this season. In one we bet $5 per point Toronto vs Montreal and in the other we bet $10 per point Toronto vs Montreal.A Montreal win = 2 points = ($5 + $10) x 2 = $30This is where you counter with the argument that you get $30 whenever Toronto wins and Montreal loses. And this is where I conclude with the question "which scenario do you think will happen more often?"I hope there is $100 cap on this one.YIKES

The team will also have 12 Centennial Jersey nights in which players will wear sweaters of past teams. Captain Saku Koivu modelled a blue-and-white one from their inaugural season in 1909-10, while star winger Alex Kovalev donned a striped one from 1912-13. "It's cool," said Koivu. "I just hope we keep these after the games because it would be a pretty cool souvenir for after my career." Kovalev added: "I can't imagine what it's going to look like with 23 players on the ice."

-The opening of a community rink in the St. Michel district of Montreal paid for by the Canadiens.
this is a great gesture by the Habs. This rink will be an artifical ice outside. It can stay open from November 1st until March 1st. They are going to build one every year for 5 years in different districts on the island. The rink cost around $500K to build and will be maintained and animated by the habs in collaboration with the city of montreal. The ice will be multifunctional and will be built to olympic specs. There is also a new Jumbotron going up that is going to trump all other jumbotrons in the league. Its 4 times the size of the old one and will have display screens of 25X40 FEET in sweet HD. Cost around 8 million.

I hope they tighten all the nuts and bolts, the Sabres learned that lesson the hard way. Posted ImageOur new one is pretty slick, but I have no idea what the dimensions are.*Edit* "The 34ft by 32ft center-hung display includes four high-res LED video boards, each approximately 13ft by 22ft with pixels on 10mm spacing. The display also includes two circular ProAd digital displays, one approximately 3ft by 105ft and another approximately 3ft by 98ft. Two additional 130ft ProAd displays are located along the fascia of the arena."Posted Image

Die.Also, that jumbotron is pretty sick.I was disappointed my first Sens game here, as they have the same old crappy jumbotron that the Pens have in the oldest building in the NHL.

Things are bad here in Detroit, plain and simple. House foreclosures all over the place everyday, layoffs at the auto companies every week, and no discounts on preseason game tickets. I am somewhat financially secure but there is no way I paying $70+ to see a preseason game. There will be holes all season long, people just need to deal with it. Doesn't mean we don't like our team, because we do, they are the only winner in town right now, but this city is strapped and Illitch isn't doing anything to help his empty building situation by continuing to raise prices. Keep in mind, many people love the wings but when the salary cap came through and the team had to cut half of it's salary and the prices stayed the same or went up, well it put a bad taste in many people's mouths. I can easily enjoy my Wings games at home on the couch in front of my HDTV. At least then I can swear unlike at the Joe.Corporations have been the only ones who really went to games. They priced the common Detroit working man out years ago and you clearly see how things have gone attendance wise the couple years. The cost to take a family of 4 to a Wings game this year is approx. $315+ for medium priced tickets, parking, and food. Take for example going to see the Tigers where it can cost approx. $135 for good seats, parking, and food. Sorry if I sound pissy, but people who don't live here have no clue what has been going on here and I hate people making assumptions that we hate out great team. Not saying you did Der, but others have and I always feel the need to respond.

Unfortunately your story is very common in North America right now..I know that Detroit is one of the places though thats been hit the hardest. After the President bailout speech last night, i think its official that the country is in a major crisis. I really hope things turn around as a lot of people are going to suffer including the NHL.We are thankfully in Toronto not in that situation yet, but the ticket prices here have priced out even the upper middle class. To take a family of 4 to a game in good seats will run you roughly the equivalent of a weekend vacation getaway for the family.I just bought 4 tickets to take some clients to a game and it only cost me $200 but the tickets are purples which is way up there. The good thing though is they are still very appreciative as any Leaf tickets is a hot commodity. However I understand the problem in Detroit and its not really to do with the fans.

MONTREAL - The Canadiens' latest acquisition is poised to make its Bell Centre debut tonight in front of its new fans. The Habs’ new central scoreboard, the third model since the venue opened its doors in March 1996, is the largest of its kind in the NHL. Weighing in at over 50,000 pounds and standing 25 feet high and 40 feet wide, it won’t go unnoticed on Friday night when the Habs take on the Senators. The scoreboard is also two and a half times the size of the scoreboard recently purchased by the Maple Leafs for the Air Canada Centre. With its four 510 square foot video panels being five times the size of the Canadiens' former model, capacity crowds can expect the ultimate fan experience each time they come to the Bell Centre. It also boasts the ability to receive a high definition feed, ensuring a sharper image quality.I said pardon? Only two and a half times the size of the Leafs one. We that is about proportional to the clubs success ratio I'd say.

so apparently Claude Lemieux, who is 43 now, wants to play in the NHL again after being retired for 5 years. I would be very surprised to see any team give him a shot.
