New And Improved Serge

Recommended Posts

Well it looks like I couldnt stay away again. I am sort of addicted to this place like a drug addict. I have decided to come back for good, however I will be a new and improved version of my oldself. What does this mean? Well you just have to wait and see as time goes on. I know I have said that I will leave before and have come back on several occasions, however this time the OLD Serge has really left. The posts I make will be intelligent and mostly deserving of the 147 IQ that I have in real life. Now that you have picked yourself up after falling off your chair you can continue reading.Having said that , I still will be the resident Toronto Maple Leaf Booster. This team showed amazing resiliency after one of the worst losses in franchise history. Last Friday was devastating for me personally and I am very proud of the way that the Leafs came back on Saturday night. Even if they dont make the playoffs I am proud to say I am a Maple Leafs fan forever.I really enjoy posting in this forum, however I am going to ask all of you a favour. I understand my views on hockey and the Leafs are not conventional, however I dont think 99 percent of the posts I make need to be ridiculed and disagreed to . Also even though I deserve it usually , I dont like the personal attacks on my character. This place is supposed to be fun and an outlet. Also there are a lot of smart hockey minds on this forum. Gruven is a very knowledgeable insider that we have access to. He can be very hard headed sometime however I do enjoy his posts. Guys like Belanger are invaluable and I think he needs to get a reporting job somewhere in the NHL. Digitalmonkey, Ajs,Zach, Goose all love to disagree with me. I respect all of their posts, however the constant jokes get tiring.Like I said I deserve most of the jokes as I dish it out more than them, however the new and improved Serge will not be foolish and will not be a clown(usually). So I hope we can agree to disagree on most issues. The biggest motivating factor of me coming back is my love for hockey and my love for the Leafs. I cant wait to post on here the second the Leafs clinch a playoff spot and I will face the gauntlet when we are eliminated. Thanks for listening and lets all have fun. In the words of a great hockey man ITS A GREAT DAY FOR HOCKEY.

Hooray!!!Try not to take things so personally, man. Most people here are just joking with you, I think. You make yourself such an easy target. Welcome back, and go leafs!
By the way I have some observations about you MCGee...I think you are the typical person that the NHL should be talking to...You live in the midwest right?...Why dont people like you get interested in our game? You seem like an intelligent guy and we need people like you to turn the NHL on....I am serious when I say Gary Bettman should invite you to his office and ask you a 100 questions.

serge,I will promise to make any replies to posts of yours, whether I agree or not, but specifically when I disagree, to be filled with coherent, cordial discussion, rather than any direct shots at you.I'm glad to see you back.I hope the Leafs can go on a serious run.- Zach

As does the whining.I must say that it is quite amusing how most of your posts are intended to get a reaction and then when you get that reaction you complain.

Word-diggedy. And Serge, its not that I 100% disagree with you 100% of the time, and when I do disagree it's not solely because I need to disagree with you. You push my buttons, I push yours. If you don't like having your buttons pushed, stick to being the kinder, gentler Serge and I'll (in turn) stick to what I do best, talking about hockey for hours on end.If you want to bust on me, I have no problem with that and I don't take the Internet seriously or personally. However, if you take a shot at me, prepare to reap the whirlwind because I have nearly 12,000 posts worth of ball-busting on the Interweb experience. <grin>

Fair enough serge, I too will give the 'new' serge a chance, mostly based on the fact that, having met you in person, I know you're nowhere near the complete jackass you play on the internet. That being said, here's MY request of the 'serge light': I respect your point of view as a fan, particularly as an AVID (see, I used a nice word there instead of something mean!!) fan. Since I derive a nice piece of income from hockey fans, I certainly try to be sensitive to EVERY point of view. But, I also think I'm pretty good at unbiased analysis of the game. I just lose it occasionally with stubborn fans. And, I think you have to admit, you're one of them. Soooo..... I think I'm off on a tangent here, I'm taking some heavy duty narcotics for a torn muscle in my arm (insert masturbation joke here). Be warned, though, sergely.... there are a lot of sharp hockey people kicking around this forum. I think where the trouble starts is you post some ludicrous nonsense, in good fun.... but if you tease the bear, and the bear bites you.... well, you're the one ****ing with a bear, dumbass!!! All that being said.... GO PENGUINS!LOL

Fair enough...I consider myself a pretty knowledgeable and sensible hockey fan, except when it comes to the Leafs...I cant help it...Its unconditional crazy love for them...Whatever they do I will have to support them

You may find this hard to believe, but I'm a big leaf fan too. I will be sad when they're eliminated, whether it's in the next week, or in the playoffs. But I'm also realistic, and more importantly, a fan of good hockey players and good teams. And this MLSE run Leafs is a tribute to mediocrity. If enough of us yell loud enough for long enough that this isn't good enough, then maybe they'll listen. So, being a fan of the team, I'm trying to do MY part to get them to make it better.

How long did you manage to lay off the crack pipe Serge? Was it 24 hours or could you not even manage that long? Perhaps you should get some professional help with your addiction.PS Good to see you back.

The game started off right, by putting out kick *** video games, which I loved as a kid. But my interest wanned in large part because 1) I have lived, other than when I went to college in chicago, a long, long way from an NHL city. Not that this matters a whole lot, 'cause I live a long, long way from baseball and nfl cites. But there's more of a fan culture, I guess, for baseball, football, basketball. 2) I've never, ever played the game. The closest I've come is playing field hockey in gym class in high school. 3) I've loved the hockey games that I've gone too, but I reall;y don't think the game is tremendous on TV. Alot of action of the game occurs away from the puck. YOu can't see how plays develop, you can't see brutal hits that aren't on camera. Hockey is a much, much better game live. I think the biggest thing is the fact that I've never played the game. In most parts of the US, youth hockey is rare to non exsistant. Where as in canada, so many people have played the game since they could lace up skates, and understand it, americans play football, basketball, baseball, soccer, skate board, ect. Hockey is way down on the list ( minnesota and upstate new york not withstanding). You just are never going to develop a rabid hockey fan base without a youth hockey culture, I don't think. I think the best way for the NHL to market to the youth will be in video games.. but again, you have to get the NHL on espn.

You really can see the play develop on TV but it's another instance where it helps if you've played the game.I've always said that if the NHL wants to grow the game in the States they need to start right at the bottom with the kids. They need to make the game more affordable for kids to play.

Totally agreed, my parents pretty much feared every new hockey season for the team fees and equipment, they thought I should stick with something a little more easy on the wallet like basketball.

To the OP,You reap what you sow. I never gave you anything other than what you've repeatedly asked for. You can't just ask for respect - earn it and I'll happily oblige. Until then, I treat you like I treat anyone else - I judge them on their words and actions and act accordingly. Joking 99% of the time or not, I didn't like the "old" Serge. Good luck convincing me that that guy is gone.

If I would have played hockey, I proably would have been an inforcer, if htey had such things in juinor hockey. I am huge and slow, and played offensive line in high school till I blew out my knee. and I'm really uncordinated, so the idea of me out there on the ice on skates is pretty comical.
