PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)

UTG+1 (t6390)
MP1 (t635)
MP2 (t2345)
MP3 (t715)
CO (t2525)
Button (t1830)
Hero (t1390)
BB (t1785)
UTG (t1590)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9 icon_suit_heart.gif , K icon_suit_spade.gif .
1 fold, UTG+1 calls t30, 3 folds, CO calls t30, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t120) 9 icon_suit_spade.gif , 7 icon_suit_spade.gif , 6 icon_suit_club.gif (4 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, CO checks.

Turn: (t120) 3 icon_suit_diamond.gif (4 players)
Hero bets t100, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, CO calls t100.

River: (t320) J icon_suit_club.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets t390, Hero......?

No reads on villian, Im not really fearful of a Jack unless he had J8 or JsXx. But I think this is a busted draw such a high percentage of the time, I have to call....right?

btw, I would usually lead the flop but UTG+1 had been playing pretty aggressive and making VERY donkish calls(Calling flops with no pair, no draw the calling turn with a gutshot) so I figured he would bet and call a shove. Didnt work, so I lead the turn

Why check the river? I would put out a bet of about 180ish..If you were checking to induce a bluff because you thought your hand was good, then call...

You've got to bet the flop, even given your worries.
When in doubt, don't fold. See what happens.

it isnt a worry, it was a 'I hope this donk bets and calls my push with A high' check. As stated I usally would...but this is once of that small percentage of a time where you dont

Generally, I bet out on this flop and fold to any pressure. As played, check on river is fine imo. It looks like you induced a bluff and you can therefore call him. The problem with raising the river is, if he reraises all in, are you gona call? And chances are he'll fold on river if you bluff anyway, you gotta give him a chance to bluff at it

And the river, too, right? When I first saw the board, and keeping in mind the title of the thread, I thought maybe fold. But really, your betting pattern makes it look like you flopped nothing, saw that everyone checked behind, thus took a stab at the pot on the turn, and gave up on the river. So you kind of have to call now, I think.

I prob would have lead for about 1/2 the pot on the river, but as played I probably fold. Maybe that's a little weak tight, but we have 2ndP2K and losing this hand will drop us to 900. This is a very coordinated board for a bunch of limpers, and this is a pretty bad river card. I also would have lead a little less on the turn.

Yes, this is a steal far too often to fold.

Your logic for no flop bet isnt....you talk about him making donkish calls, not donkish bets, so put him in the position to make another bad call. Even if he has made donkish bets in the past, the board is too draw heavy to let go by, and you need to get some info on the strength of your hand.

Also, from my experience at these limits, the overbet usually means he has it and is trying to make it look like he doesn't.

yet but the 390 bet is on of those bets that stack the chips real high so it makes it look intimidating(or at least, its suppose to)

my logic was same as cop's, too many missed draws to fold, I call, he showed Ah8h, w00t

looking back though, I probably lead the flop

I know he meant the flop, but why not lead out with a blocking bet on the river?

FPS. Don't forget he's not the only player in on the hand. If you want to isolate a donk, you've got to bet out and get the others out of there.

I believe their are pros to both side.

Yeah, it worked out well...but boy, it made for an awfully tough decision on the river, which I hate having to make. Like you say, though, it's debatable.

I don't really think this is a tough river decision at all. I think it probably comes from being mostly a limit player, but I <3 the c/c on the river.

But obviously you can see that this is a lot more to call (relative to the pot, and the blinds) than a single big bet!

Yeah, but it just looks so much like he's trying to buy it.
