KDawgCometh 2
first off, I don't like the river bet, I'd much rather check behind. With that board pairing, if I really want to go to showdown, I'm checking the turn and reevaluate on the river. as is, you have to fold, but really I think you wasted a bet

KDawgCometh 2
Why?what are you beating there. your hand is nowhere near strong enough on that board to attempt to value bet that river
mikeysong 0
you don't think a busted straight draw, flush draw, or a weirdly played Ax hand could make that play? That's a def. call

That's a def. callif a busted draw is making that type of play on the river, more power to him, but we are smoked here sooooo much when he makes a CR on this river. this is just bad advice IMO and is a pure spew if we're calling
Shimmering Wang 1
you don't think a busted straight draw, flush draw, or a weirdly played Ax hand could make that play? That's a def. callWell, don't you think top set, AA or a weirdly played QQ could make that raise? No? Because that just seems pretty unlikely? Huh. I happen to agree. What he COULD have is of little importance when we ignore the relative likelihood...If you're calling down everytime you're popped on the river in these situations without a good reason, you're just giving up and tossing money into the pot. The board is paired and draw-heavy; betting this river can be profitable, but only against certain players. You're not getting called by Ax, TJ, or two diamonds very often. One of the two remaining nines could call. I guess 77 could call. This is more often something goofy like 66, though...Wang
mikeysong 0
loli actually misread this hand completely, for some reason i thought the flop read A 9 8as played, I call not because I think we're ahead but if we have no reads, I'm paying the 1bb for the note for future reference. CoranMoran 0
There are good 3rd pairs. And there are bad ones. This is a bad one.Because the higher pairs (K, 8) both came on the flop. And Villain's flop call could definitely represent one theses better hands. With that board pairing, if I really want to go to showdown, I'm checking the turn and reevaluate on the river.I agree that the bad turn card should slow us down.I plan on seeing showdown from there for 1 bet.But we have to decide if it is best to put that 1 bet in on the turn or the river. And I think it definitely needs to be put in on the turn.- Villain certainly may be on the draw. But we gain value only on the turn with a bet.- Our little pair of 9's, even if ahead, is still very vulnerable. This hand is too vulnerable to check the turn in hopes of inducing a river bluff.Because even if Villain made a loose flop call, he could get lucky and spike his overcard if we let him see it for free.Once we get to the river, I don't see much reason to bet. There just aren't many hands that would have called the flop that we gain value from on the river. What are we hopnig for?A lesser 9?A horribly played underpair? Those hands are few.If we are not willing to fold to a check-raise, then this is a Win 1/Lose 2 situation. And it makes the decision not to bet the river very easy. Conclusion: Without a specific read that Villain will check-call the PFR down the whole way with trash, I bet the turn to take the free showdown on the river.--CM
