Is It Just Me, Or Are Tsn's Power Rankings A Joke?

http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/feature/?fid=548Ok, the most glaring point is that Ottawa is ranked 2nd. Seriously? They're 5th in the east, although to be fair, this list was last updated on the 12th and they might have been in 4th place then. In 5th, you have Calgary who is 8th place in the west...and they're ranked ahead of the Canucks (3rd in west), Wings (FIRST in the west), Sharks (5th in west), and Devils (2nd in east). I left the Pens out so nobody can accuse me of bias. Seriously, though - is there some kind of criteria that is being used to influence the rankings that I'm not aware of? Such as...whether the team is located in Canada or not?

The rankings are always heavily based on recent play and not the entire season. That should answer your question.
Well, going by recent play, I looked at the results the week before that (starting the 4th through the 12th). In that span, the Devils won 2 and lost 2, while the Senators won 1 and lost 3. Yet on the 12th, the Sens are ranked 2nd while the Devils are 9th.

The Canucks were only 3rd in the west because they were leading their division. Now, they are 6th.....ish

I listed the rankings as current at the time of the thread's posting, so things might have been slightly off from what they were when TSN posted the power rankings (on the 12th). Even with the possibility of teams jumping from 3rd to 6th or back to 3rd, Jersey has been leading their division for ages. To have Ottawa that far ahead of them is a joke, both in the long and short term.

the devils havent been above 7th in those rankings all season, even when theyd won 19 of 23 after christmas. whatever the formula is it clearly has something to do with scoring goals rather than stopping them.

Are you serious?Have you ever tried to catch the hockey highlights on ESPN?
Barry Melrose and his mullet should be enough to hold up the network hockey wise.
