this show is amazing. bear grylls is a beast. he eats snakes and fish alive. he eats dead zebra carcasses. he jumps in quick sand and gets out just to show how much he owns nature. anyone seen it?

Yeah

My favorite is when he builds a raft that looks like something out of Castaway and floats out to the middle of the ocean. While he is showing ways to cool down he ties himself to the raft and hops into the water. He then immediately gets out of the water and the raft is surrounding by three Tiger sharks for what seems like at least an hour and they are all within feet from him. That had my heart pumping for him.

I also like the one where he just braeks through the frozen ice and shows how to get out of the water. I was worried on that one too that once he struggled and went underwater that he might not have been coming back up.

Im going to have to check this out. So far the greatest show ever was the reality show with Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston

Also another classic part I liked was the desert episode where he pisses on his shirt and then wears it wrapped around his head and over his mouth. GROSS

I made a thread like this when the show first came out. Guess more people are catching on. But yeah, he's definitely a certified bad ***.

I like the show a lot. It's both similar and different than Survivorman, another great show. I just wish they filmed more than a half dozen shows of each. I'm stuck with reruns now, but they are very entertaining. I like Survivorman in that he goes to survive with very little material, makes his fires from scratch or from the little material available to him. I like Man v. Wild in that Bear goes all out, but still brings a flint to make fire.

If I had to choose one to watch exclusively, I would watch Man v. Wild, just based on the fact that he goes all out, ie throwing himself into quicksand, freezing water, jumping into the crevasse, live fish eating, etc.

Good stuff.

We are both being judgmental, the only difference is my judgments are well reasoned, well presented and actually have something to do with reality whereas yours are inane assumption wrapped in a steaming pile of contradiction.

"Man vs. Wild" is slightly more "staged" than "Survivorman", but the consensus seems to be that what it sacrifices as far as realism it more than makes up for in entertainment.

I'm hoping there will be a second season, but I'm curious where they'd send Bear. Perhaps a swamp? Something along the lines of the Everglades or Okefenokee would be cool. He hasn't done the Himalayas or Andes yet either, but those might be too similar to the Alps. The Outback could also work. Maybe the Russian tundra or Greenland? The Amazon might be too similar to Costa Rica, but there might be some extra variety there.

This show is amazing. One night on the Discovery Channel they had a marathon of Man vs Wild and Surviverman. I had never seen either before, but I started watching an episode of survivorman and a few hours later I'm pretty sure I had seen every episode of both. They're amazingly addictive.

The guy on Man vs Wild is pretty nuts. I'm not sure how choreographed it is or how rehearsed it is, but it takes serious guts to climb down a waterfall on a vine (for instance). I also think it's pretty amazing when he just starts eating the fish that he catches live. I really hope they make more of these shows, because I'm pretty sure I could watch them back to back for about as long as the Discovery Channel will force feed them to me. Follow it up with some Mythbusters and I'm basically in heaven.

Those fish he eats aren't even real. They're probably like, robots, or something.

Bear: I start filming this week in the Everglades of Florida, a whole program just about swamp techniques for next season.

Anyone catch the episode with Bear in the everglades?
It was awesome and Bear is amazing. First off, I would have pissed my pants and just jumped in a tree and waited if I was in an alligator filled swamp, but Bear was trecking thru it like he was the king. When he crossed the river, I was kind of nervous myself. The turtule part was extremely gross but awesome at the same time. And finally, Bear just jumped right into the quick mud with out hesitaion. I really want to try to escape from that stuff (although I doubt I would be able to)-I want to see if Bear has tought me anything (I would want to spread the surface area and spread my weight and then slowly wriggle my way out).

Has anybody read his book and would you recommend it?

That scene was hilarious. Because he ate the first egg raw, then he said he was going to cook the second egg because it may gave him salmonella. Why did he not figure the first one would give him salmonella?-Because he's mother fuc.king Bear Grylls!

I thought I heard Bear say in an interview that he had to sleep in the sheep (like Luke Skywalker on Hoth). Maybe it wasn't this episode because I want to see that.

But this episode (Iceland) was awesome. Bear is so cool. I want to legally change my name to Bear.

Just an "I wish I could guy." I love the show because everything Bear does, I know I would never do, but I love watching it.
