Blinds 600/1200, ante 200, nine handed - Tourney started with 246, 58 left, 27 pay. Average is 30K.I'm in the SB with 7500. UTG+1 bets out 3300 and it's folded to me in the SB with A3o. Villain is chip leader at the table and has been very active - he's played 23s, 58o, Q5o, QQ, AJ. I saw him bet and call a sizable push with 22. He just opened when I was in the BB and I folded 108o.He's a very good player though and most of the laggy hands with the exception of the 22 were played from the blinds where he called raises preflop and hit the flop hard. I have 6,700 chips if I fold here - M=2. It's been very difficult to get first in vigorish. Haven't had one walk in the blinds in the four hours at this table.I hate a weak ace but is it time to gamble?

I would hate it but i would fold. The problem you have is that when you're ahead of his rand, unless he has a-2, there's nothing that you're dominating, but there are a lot of hands that are crushing you. you have 0 fold equity. i say grit your teeth and fold.

I guess I can add insight since I was at that table for 6 hours. :-)The player in question was Randers, who is a very good online player and is a complete nut. :)Normally I hate being all-in w/no fold equity and A-rag against an EP raiser, but against his range (and with his stack he will play any 2) I don't mind it so much. And as you said, it wasn't really a table where you had it folded to you and were able to take the blinds very often. Randers, the hispanic guy to his left, and Ken Washington were all very active.GG and nice meeting you Andre.

I think you may best just put it in now. If table is not letting anything go by then A3 stands a good chance(just hope the BB drops so it's head's up). You will be called. If you fold, you may not get a chance for FIV until you get to your UTG spot and have to go ATC.I don't like but I think going all in is the best action. You get 7 more hands but the only hand that will guarantee you FIV is when you are UTG. So A3 to one random hand that likely will be called with your stack, get it in. You'll be out an extra 1400 chips by UTG time as well.

Against Randers? On another similar hand against another short stack - the short stack called from the blinds and Rand said "You running the stop n go against me?" and basically started moving all his chips into the middle before the flop was dealt.Might work against some but not against this player.

Maybe not, I have no clue who Randers is. I'd rather try to create some kind of FE. Maybe he'll accidentally miss his chips and one of his cards goes into the muck.

i think i'd let this go and hope to pick up something better in the next orbit, and if not go with whatever i get on the next bb. i don't think it's unreasonable to hope to find a better spot within the next 8 hands.

You have to double up about 3 times to get close to the money. Seems like a call after your description of the guy, except for the fact that he has now opened twice in a row. If that is a pretty unusual occurence, then I might consider folding. Players usually don't like to open the second time without a good hand. (Credit for that insight goes to Allen Cunningham) But if he does raise twice in a row a lot, then it's finger-crossing time.
