I usually go to bed at 1-2am and sleep for 5 hours.
I find myself getting by with it but I am quite tired at say, 4pm-7pm

I wish I didnt have to sleep. Needing to sleep is -EV, in poker and in the rest of life.

I sleep 7-8 hrs a night though...I cant function on less.

No joke I was up all Wednesday finishing a project and preparing a powerpoint presentation, and Thursday night doing the same s_hit for another class. That means I haven't slept since Tuesday night. Completely unhealthy and I'm ashamed of myself for procrastinating for so long. Im such a joke who the hell let me in college. I want to have a talk with whoever reviewed my transcripts.

Lately, I've been going to bed around 4am and waking up around noon. Plus or minus an hour in either direction and for either occurance.

Depends on the day. My body usually adjusts pretty quickly to new sleep habits, so as of the past few months it's been:

Monday/Wednesday: ~3am - 10am
Tuesday/Thursday/Friday: ~5am - 2pm
Saturday/Sunday: Usually around 6am - 2 or 3 pm.

For the past five years I had a graveyard-type schedule. The first two years of that schedule really sucked, but once I got used to it, I liked it. (You get everything done by noon and have the rest of your day to do whatever you want.) But, for most people it would be pretty f'd up:

I'd work 3 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. until about 5 months ago. So I used to sleep from about 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. I'd go to work and come home, play some poker, crawl into bed and fall asleep to Around the Horn between 2 and 2:30 p.m. My nap would last until sometime between 3:30 to 6 p.m. I'd wake up, play some poker, then watch primetime TV from 8 to 10. On my weekends I would be asleep by 10 and could never sleep past 7 a.m.

My wife was on a similar sched (she worked 4 a.m. to 9 a.m.) so all was good.

Unfortunately, when I quit, my wife's schedule didn't change and my body is very accustomed to waking up early. So, when her alarm goes off, I fight to go back to sleep and usually lose the battle. It was no big deal because there used to be perks to being up early. Until the online slowdown, 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. was a great time to play poker. The games were filled with loose Europeans and Americans who had been up all night. I'd spend a couple of hours making my money for the day and go back to sleep until she got home from work and had the rest of the day to do whatever.

It was a sweet existence. I was never tired and it seemed like I had unlimited time in my day.

Then came January. I cashed out my online roll before New Year's as I was going on a poker trip. The good news was I had nothing online when the sky fell. The bad news, there wasn't an easy way to get that money back online. On top of that, the juicy games and the table selection dried up during the 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. hours. (I don't play much cash game hold'em so trying to find a decent game is even more difficult at that time.) So, there was very little reason to put that money back online anyway.

I guess it's been a nice vacation, but 4 out of 5 days I still get up when my wife goes to work. Other than rubbing one out, those early morning hours are pretty boring now. I tried staying up until my wife leaves, but going to bed at 4 a.m. and waking up at 1 p.m. just doesn't suit me anymore. Plus, my woman doesn't like to sleep alone, and since she lets me do whatever I want (quit my job, buy expensive toys, take off on trips for weeks at a time by myself while she works), I want to keep her happy.

So a bad sleep schedule is a good trade off.

Everybody commiserate with me now.

Let's hear it: "Ahhhhhhhhh." sad.gif

im still not sold that many of these people that get these big online scores are winners when it comes to the live game, which, by the way, is real poker.

Here's my daily schedule. I used to only sleep for 4-6 hours a night, and I can get by on it, but I find myself stressed out a lot more than if I get seven or eight.

Take NyQuill around 11:00 so that I can be asleep by 1:00. It always takes a while for it to kick in probably because I take it every night. Sometimes I like to mix it up and jerk it as I'm falling asleep.

Get up at 9:00 so I can make it to the cardroom by 10:00. Play until around 4:00.

Come home, fart around, heat up some leftovers, see what you dumb shits are up to.

Eat dinner around 6:00.

From that point on things get pretty crazy. Sometimes I jerk off again. Sometimes I go to a friend's house and play some video games and drink/smoke. It's all up in the air. I'm a madman.

Then I'm back in bed by midnight.

Now that's my day. You can all get off of the edge of your seats.

Short answer: 1:00-9:00.

I truly never get tired of reading your posts.

oh, and my input...
monday/wednesday 12-7
tuesday/thursday 2 or 3 - noon
Friday/Saturday/sunday 2-4 -noonish.

I used to play poker till about 8am and sleep till like 3 occasionally... the day after never felt that good though.
