MGM Grand Detroit begins hiring workersJoel J. Smith / The Detroit NewsDETROIT -- Although the new MGM Grand Detroit Casino is six to nine months away from completion, the downtown gambling and hotel complex will begin the process of hiring 1,000 new workers for a variety of jobs, the casino announced today.Positions are available in administration, environmental services, finance, food and beverage, hotel operations, human resources, marketing, security, table games, valet and wardrobe, MGM Grand said."We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, committed to excellence and who take pride in their work," said Deborah Thomas, MGM's vice president for human resources. "They should be flexible to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays and be seeking a gratifying career. No previous experience is required. When completed, the $765 million permanent complex will feature a 100,000-square foot of gaming space, a 400-room hotel, entertainment venue, meeting rooms, restaurants and retail space. It will replace the smaller temporary casino at Third and Howard streets. The temporary casino employs about 2,500 workers, with half of those living in the city of Detroit. The new casino/hotel/entertainment complex is at Third and Bagley streets. The complex is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2007, and MGM management wants all new employees on board and trained when the doors open."The number one requirement is a good personality and a desire to provide excellent customer service," Thomas said.Prospective employees should visit the casino's Web site to see the list of jobs available, submit an application and schedule a job interview. Cool, thanks for the heads up. I wonder if they've got a spot for an unemployed architect w/ a (seemingly) worthless Master's degree. On that note, does anyone in Denver or Las Vegas know any architects hiring? my unemployment checks dry up in April.

I'm trying to get better at playing a few at a time. I tend to concentrate on one more than the others.I think that'll change though with dual moniters. Working on one old CRT just isn't cutting it.
