I really dont have read on villian. I hit gutshots like a champ.

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2
8 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $197.55
UTG+1: $172.15
MP1: $62
MP2: $274.55
CO: $31
Hero: $190
SB: $140.15
BB: $200

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is Button with 8c.gif tc.gif
2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO folds, Hero calls, SB folds, BB checks.

Flop: 7c.gif 5h.gif kh.gif ($9, 4 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero checks.

Turn: js.gif ($9, 4 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, MP2 bets $2, Hero calls, BB folds, MP1 calls.

River: 9s.gif ($15, 3 players)
MP1 checks, MP2 bets $2, Hero raises to $14, MP1 folds, MP2 raises to $28, Hero?

Poor guy doesn't know what he did by reopening the betting. What should I reraise to? Take a shot and push? This is exactly why I called with my gutshot. I'm trying to figure out how strong his hand is. 55,77, J9? Would any of these call a substantial reraise or push? I tend to give people who min bet and min bet then min reraise less credit then normal players although I have no read. He could have the same hand as me, or a lower straight. Hmmm.

a raise to about 70 seems about the most you could get called with, he has at least 2 pair, if not trips. His turn bet may have been to encourage the 'steal'. so he could have already hit, then the river he would seem to notice the straight so a shove would probably scare him off. the raise to 70 would be enouch to get him thinking you might be stealing it from him on the river reading him for weak, or he might jsut think his weak two pair or set is good.

Hero reraises $50 more to 78$ total.
Villain goes all-in.
Hero calls all-in.
Hero: shows T icon_suit_club.gif 8 icon_suit_club.gif : Straight, Jack high
Villain shows T icon_suit_heart.gif Q icon_suit_heart.gif : Straight, King high

I dont think you should be too afraid of the QT in this spot, seems like he would ahve rather bet solid on the turn with that many draws or just checked it to see the river the min bet on the turn wouldnt match up with him having QT.

LOL. This is what I was thinking when I read this. smile.gif

If I'm sure I'm ahead, I push all in. He obviously enjoys the way the cards in his hand are similar in some ways to the cards on the board. Does he turn over the kickass slowplayed set?
Peace,
Jay

4 word tranlation. "He likes his hand."

He has at least 2 pair here, a set is somewhat likely as is the 68 straight. I don't think he's folding for another $50 or $60, but I don't know if I'd go pushing.

Haha no, although I did take a disgusting beat shortly before this involving me flopping a boat. I'm gonna bring up another point by saying as a general rule most villians who min bet like this are retarded so that factored in my decision to further reraise the river.

lol, thats exactly what i was thinking here too.

Villian certainly did play his hand like he has QT, i think J9, K9 and 68 are also possibilities.

One of the things ive noticed at least in my games...is that the guy who min-raises you on the river, has you beat.

Personally, i think im just calling this raise. But i dont think raising is a bad play either, he'll def pay you off with 2 pair, but if he pushes, you're probably dead.

Actually, to be honest I made an idiotic play here. I was 5 or 6 tabling and talking to my girlfriend on the phone and when I glanced at this table I realized what he did. I took a quick glance and I am ashamed to say I thought I had the nuts and pushed hard. He instacalled and flipped 68o. Phew. If I notice Q10 straight there I cold call his min reraise. First time in a while I misread a hand like this but hey, it worked out. What's the cliche phrase from that old poker movie? "Gets down to what it's all about, doesn't it? Making the wrong move at the right time"
