I know I don't play at as high a limit as many of the people, usually about $5 to $20 NL tournaments on UB, but just curious if everyone finds this as funny as I do.Especially in the $5 tournaments, people just LOVE to show their cards. Say I raise from the button to steal the blinds, and the BB will fold and show their cards, say a 10-8, and I'll just laugh to myself with my 42off. It seems like people always want to be like "well, this way I don't look bad, cause I'm showing you I don't have a hand to play." Of course, if they had re-popped with the same hand, I'm usually laying it down.Just curious if it's this way on all the sites.

Happens on Poker Stars as well. I use to show my cards, thinking I could make a play later based on my previous shows but people come in and out of the rooms to quick or in a tournament, you get moved to another table so the whole purpose is defeated. Also, so many people don't pay attention on line because they are playing mutliple tables.

I never show my cards. Hardly anyone in the higher tournaments will. Sure you can think "well I'll make a play on the info that he has later on" but you can't know whether he will actually use this info or not. I mean, it's gotta be a pretty fishy guy to fall for something like that. Like betting hard on a semi bluff for him to fold and now expect him to call you everytime you bet.It just unnecessarily adds to things you have to keep track of.I'd rather adjust my play to the way that my opponent plays rather than adjusting it to what cards i've deliberately showed him, then having to figure out how or IF he will actually act on this. There are times when you might showboat if you hit a royal flush or something but that's not for a strategical purpose. That said a lot of the beginners at the low buyin tournaments like to show their two pair - flushes thinking it's a great hand which they haven't had so many times and are proud to show.Of course, showing in a slow moving live game is a slightly different story.

I never show a hand period. Unless you call my bet you will never see my cards. That is just my way of playing though. Some people will show one card... sometimes both. Danial has even been known to show cards.... It is a personal thing I guess.

I never show my cards either, especially online. Online the main way you gain information about your opponents is through betting patterns and any time you show cards that they didn't pay to see its just giving information about yourself away.

Live or Online, I think it's best to give them as little information as possible about what cards you will or won't play. Let's say you fold a moderately strong hand because you suspect that your opponent has made a flush. If you show that you folded a good hand to the suspected flush, regardless of whether or not they made the flush, you're still telling them, and the rest of the table, that you will fold good hands to a player representing the flush.Just my humble opinion.

I never do either. I play at one site almost exlusively. I'm sure by now the notes on me are there. But, they've been paid for.Until I become pro, I have to follow Daniels advice on this one. Besides, if you don't, invariably somebody will ask. Then it can be whatever you want it to be.Its funny, as sometimes I do answer with: "what did you want them to be?" or "what did you think they were" (quid pro quo). They still ask again.

I guess it is that way on PokerStars too. I won a $5 2 table sng yesterday, and this one guy got off to a huge lead, he was playing crazy, and he showed pretty much EVERY hand. It helped out when there were a few people left, I had a made hand, and I knew he had a draw and that he'd draw to it no matter what, based on his previous hands/betting patterns. I think there is a time to show your cards, but there's way more times not to show your cards. I try to not give away any information if I can help it.
