Did Gold or Chan ever publicly say if Chan was given anything for "mentoring" during Gold's unbelievable ride?

The two are not related by blood.
"We had all the momentum. We were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark, that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back." —Raoul Duke, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas

concidering every hand gold lost he walked over to chan.....I'd say they are either but-buddies or he was mentoring him.
Statistics are like Bikini's: They are intresting for what they reveal but crucial for what they conceal

I was railing Raymer on-line a few months ago and this subject came up...Raymer said that the whole Chan mentor thing was made for TV and that all the talk of mentor and teaching Gold was bunk..
