Not sure if I was right about this one. Hoping for some input =)Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 max, 6 handed) converterMP ($32)CO ($0)Button ($107.85)SB ($110.48)Hero ($159.25)UTG ($155.75)Preflop: Hero is BB with As, Kh. SB posts a blind of $0.5. UTG raises to $2, 1 fold, Button raises to $3, 1 fold, Hero calls $2, UTG calls $1.Flop: ($9.50) Jh, Kd, 5s (4 players)Hero checks, UTG checks, Button bets $5, Hero raises to $10, UTG folds, Button calls $5.Turn: ($29.50) 9h (3 players)Hero bets $15, Button raises to $30, Hero folds.Final Pot: $74.50Edit: Not sure how I get it to stop ruining the hand history. Anyways my thoughts are that since he reraised he must have AKs or a high pocket pair. I put him on JJ after his reraise and folded.
was this laydown correct in your opinion?

What hands were you worried about here? queen ten? Trip nines, jacks fives kings? hard to advise without any history on this player or the table in general. For me personally, I would have played it totally different from git-go, so only going on what you did previously in this hand alone, I think the fold was bad. For another $15, I would gladly see another card, putting $15 in to possibly win at least $74.50 (about 5 to 1 isn't it?) I'm not convinced you were beat at this stage, but I don't play at that level of NL, so I can't say for certain.

I much prefer leading out on the flop to see where I am at because that pre-flop action was awfully curious. And with no read on the player, it is hard to say what I would do in your situation on the turn. However, I play it differently, so I wouldn't be faced with such a decision.

The opponent is a tight aggressive player. Doesnt play too many hands at all which is why I figured he had a pocket pair once he reraised. its not a big reraise tho so my read could be wrong. And how would you play this differently? Thanks for all the replies guys.

And how would you play this differently? Thanks for all the replies guys.[/quote]My thoughts on what I would do:Pre-flop - In the big blind with Ace King offsuit, facing a raise and a re-raise in front of me. Depending on who was doing the raising, there is a very small chance that I would fold this. There is also an equally small chance that I would raise it again, as it is a very good hand. The call is fine as well though. Hmmm...Am I a fence sitter or what? After the flop - You have hit top pair with top kicker. You elected to check raise, which I do not like in this scenario. Betting into the raiser(s) is my preferred play here, as I believe it gives you more information and a better position. Who knows, you just might win the pot right here with a good bet. As it was, the button (who was the re-raiser) bets half the pot. Not a very big bet (should have been closer to pot sized or oversized), so your check-raise is fine, just not big enough (you have only doubled his bet). Depends on what your intention was though with your check-raise (ie. did you re-raise to try to win it there or to keep building the pot). After the turn - again, you have bet about half the size of the pot. If you want to win it here, it must be bigger. If you wanted to build the pot, then why fold to the raise (it was only another $15). I am glad you took the initiative here though rather than check-raise again (no possibility of giving free cards). The fold - already gave my three cents (not what I would have done 95% of the time).

Great input guys.UTG is LAG so I dont respect his mini raises pre flop. He does that a lot to throw you off on what kind of hand he has. Doing it with junk and hoping to hit the flop hard. The reason I folded was because I couldnt understand why the reraiser pre flop would raise me when I bet 15 dollars unless he had something that would beat TPTK.I didnt put him on 2 pair becuase of what the board looked like. Because of his reraise pre flop I put him on PP and he was lucky enough to hit a set on the flop. He also only bet 5 dollars into the pot, which lead me to believe that he didnt want to scare anyone away.
