Cleaning Dvds?

I'm currently watching The Godfather and I'm getting very frustrated because the disc keeps lagging. How do you go about cleaning a disc? I hear flushing it down the toilet works but it seems kinda gross to me.

thanks, I just took it out, blew on it and wipe it on my shirt and much to my suprise, it's working fine now

Steel wool and ammonia is surprisingly effective.Mostly because you'll end up having to buy a new disc, which will work perfectly.

I'm pretty sure that with any disc (cd, dvd) you are supposed to wipe with a soft cloth (I use the ones you get to clean glasses) from the center out in straight lines.

Put in in the microwave for 3 seconds.

best is using a little Windex then wiping it out with a paper towel....works every time.

I remember in high school a teacher scratched a disc then tried to play it. Didn't work.He then took a small amount of toothpaste (an abrasive) and wiped the disc from outside in, not in a circle. He rinsed it under warm water, and the disc played perfectly.Microwave works first.
