JacKingOff_suit 0
poker online? Few days ago I posted a topic with "Is it possible to turn $10 to $10,000 playing online?", today when I checked back I saw many responses. I guess I have to say thank you for all the replies. It seemed like there were many people who deposited a tiny amount of money and they could manage to turn them into a mountain of gold. Now I can conclude that those surveys/studies about 95% of players are losers were completely bs.Now to make it even tougher, do you think if it's realistic to turn $1 into $100,000 by playing poker online? Please give your comments, thank you. Tritz 1
I am going to beat you to it.Is it possible to turn $00.01 into $100,000,000..No! and here is why.. because you cannot deposit and less than $50 at a time. ..So can you turn $50.00 into 1 Bagillion dollars? not likely but possible...I would rather deposit a grand so you can actually play...then make the money. Also you could play a freeroll and win a dollar or something.. and turn that in..so it is possible although it takes a heck of a lot of skill

digitalmonkey 929
It is possible to turn nothing into millions of dollars. You can win freerolls and satellites and end up at the WSOP and take home the main event if you have the right combination of fortitude, luck, skill and time.
gravity 0
Now I can conclude that those surveys/studies about 95% of players are losers were completely bs.Those studies may not be accurate, but responses to a message board is hardly proof of that. Even if all the respondents are 100% honest (which is possible but unlikely), we have a serious case of selection bias here. What fraction of the people reading this site and responding to threads are going to be the types that put in $10 (or $100 or whatever), lose it, and never play again? Roughly zero. They're not reading your message, much less replying to it. We don't know how large a group this is, so we can't make an inference on how frequent those success stories are relative to the population at large. Moreover, if someone reading this forum is a perennial loser (and there must be at least a few) are they going to be eager to write-up posts describing how steadily they've lost money over the months or years? Not likely, though there may be some who share that information (I haven't read any). (This is different from the multitude of bad beat sob stories that fill the boards, in which the hero was dealt a great injustice by a terrible player, but otherwise played the hand more or less correctly.)As for the 95% loser figure itself, I'll agree that it does seem rather high. But then we hear pros talking about how their long-term goal is to grind out about 1BB per hour of play. These are very skilled players, probably at least in the top 2 or 3%, and they're just eking it out. If we assume (which is probably correct) that the dropoff in skill after these professionals is huge, then perhaps 95% of players losing could be a reasonable number. On the other hand, I personally do pretty well online, and I'm hardly top 2 or 3%. It could be that with the huge poker boom right now, the average skill level has dropped so much that even a top 10 to 20% player can beat the rake by a significant amount in the long run. This might be temporary, unfortunately. Even if the boom lasts, the fish aren't completely stupid (but I will grant that they are none to smart not to have done the minimal research needed to play semi-competently), they just have no idea what they're doing. Many of them will probably figure it out eventually and the average skill level will rise. But I hope not.
ddoggphx 0
I've turned a free $10 from Royal Vegas poker into $65, transferred to PokerStars and am continuing to grow it at the nickel/dime limits. So yeah, I'm guessing with a lot of patience and a lot of skill, you can do that. Hopefully I'll do it and I'll come back and tell you all about it so you can start even another thread of turning a dollar into a million.

Erudis 0
pretty hard to play within your bankroll of 1 dollar. well, actually i think there are 1 cent/2 cent blinds at UB.i'd go as far as to say it is probable to turn $1 into any greater amount (one thousand, one million, etc) for a good player. it'd only take time, probably many many years...hrm... suppose all of following to always be the case (nm variance and all that jazz):- you took your $1 and played limit poker starting at .01/.02, and always moved up when you had 300BB of the next limit, stopped moving up limits at the 300/600 game- you never deviate from the above (ie no MTT's or anything)- you made 2BB an hour the whole time- you played 10 hours a dayyou would:- get to the .05/.10 game with $30 in 73 days- get to the .10/.20 game with $60 in 15 days (88 total)- get to the .25/.50 game with $150 in 23 days (111 total)- get to the .50/1 game with $300 in 15 days (126 total)- get to the 1/2 game with $600 in 15 days (141 total)- get to the 2/4 game with $1200 in 15 days (156 total)- get to the 3/6 game with $1800 in 8 days (164 total)- 5/10 with $3000 in 10 days (174 total)- 10/20 with $6,000 in 15 days (189 total)- 15/30 with $9,000 in 8 days (197 total)- 20/40 with $12,000 in 5 days (202 total)- 30/60 with $18,000 in 8 days (210 total)- 50/100 with $30,000 in 10 days (220 total)- 100/200 with $60,000 in 15 days (235 total)- 200/400 with $120,000 in 15 days (250 total)- 300/600 with $180,000 in 8 days (258 total)with your $180,000 you now stay at the same 300/600 limit- you get to $250,000 in 6 days (264 total)- you get to $500,000 in 21 days (285 total)- you get to $750,000 in 21 days (306 total)- you get to $1,000,000 in 21 days (327 total)so there you have it, $1 to $1,000,000 in under a year  - you get an additional cool million dollars every 84 days after thatsee how easy it is! just think if you 4-tabled the whole way!!!
