I've all the reports and I still think Pippen is crazy.
There's only a handful of guys that have played in there 40's, and none of them were significant contributers. I think only 4 players have played at age 41 (the same age as Pippen). Only Kareem seemed to be somewhat productive at that age. Only one, Cousy, actually tried to comeback from retirement at that age and it ended badly. Pippen was fading bad before he retired when he was actually in shape. There's no telling how far he's fallen now.
As to Pippen accepting a minor role, I'll believe it when I see it. Pippens ego is huge and was always bigger than his talent. The very fact that he's trying to comeback at this age proves it.

Not sure why he wants to come back, but I am going to disagree with you on the ego thing. He gets a bad rep for sitting out that one play where they drew it up for kukoc. Regardless, he is one of the top 50 players of all time, he has the right to have an ego. Sounds like he wants to come back, play a few minutes off the bench and be an assistant, I'm sure some team can find a use for that.

Prince you're a bit off there. Pippen does have a big ego (AS DO MOST PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES), but was a VERY good player. Lebron actually reminds me a lot of Pippen, a big guy that can pass and score, though James can't play defense anywhere near the level that Scottie could. I would love to see him come back to Chicago, though that probably won't happen. Miami or LA are the frontrunners imo.

Pippen was a good player. The awards throughout his career prove that. I still think he is overrated. He's very good but not as "great" as some fans claim. I was actually surprised when he made the greatest 50.
His bad rep for sitting out on a play is well deserved. Even players with the biggest of egos never said, "If you dont want to call a play for me then I'd rather not play at all." IMO, that was one of the worst displays I've ever seen from an athlete in a game under those conditions. There's way more to that than Pippen just having a bad day.
And let's not forget his single season in Houston which was a disaster. Houston quickly shipped him out mainly over personality conflicts. Pippen was upset about his touches even though Olajuwon and Barkley were both superior players. Trust me, Houston didnt miss him.

Jordan was without any doubt, the greatest player to ever play in the NBA. But without Pippen, he doesn't win the 6 NBA championships.

I heard that the motivation for him wanting to play again is mostly financial as there are reports that he's in debt.
He was way underpaid for several years, but if thats the case he had some poor money management skills.

Did anyone here his comments during all star weekend about him being better than Jordan... someone has been sipping tainted kool-aid.
LOL. I didnt see his comments, but I'm not suprised. This is was the reason for my "big ego" comments.

You sure dude? I find it about as believable as your spelling of here/hear. Only way I could see this would be if there was a hidden mic. Only an idiot would publicly announce they're better than MJ.

So it led to some curious comments during All-Star weekend when Pippen again was asked about being Jordan's footman.
"I think people love me just as much as they love Michael," Pippen said. "The fans who understand the game, the GMs and coaches. I think they'd rather have a Scottie than a Michael. Because I'm an all-around player. Coaches would rather have a Scottie-type player than a Michael. I was an all-around player. I made people around me better."
They were stunning, mouth agape comments, though Pippen's point really was more generic. He doesn't always express himself perfectly, which is why he isn't on ESPN anymore even if he had interesting and strong opinions. He was trying to enhance his skills and note their importance, which is often overlooked.

Homer: Moe, I need your advice.
Moe: Yeah?
Homer: See, I got this friend named... Joey Jo Jo... Junior... Shabadoo.
Moe: That's the worst name I ever heard.

Pippen was a great player in the right place at the right time. Sort of like the Kobe/Shaq duo. What would Pippen have accomplished without MJ? Probably as much as Kobe has accomplished without Shaq (That's not a diss, Kobe could very well carry the Lakers to a championship and I think Pippen could have maybe as well. But its not domination).
He was still a superstar in my opinion. He's ego is big all of a sudden and that's a shame.

He took the bulls to game 7 of the eastern conference finals without MJ and were one layup from going to the finals, thats farther than Kobe has taken the Lakers solo.

I hope you mean semis. Cause that's where Pippens Bulls lost to NYK who beat Indiana in the Conf finals. Then Houston beat NYK 4-3 in the Finals.
