RISINGSHARK 0
Hello,I deposited $400 into Party Poker on the 17th march 2005.I have managed to get this to $3500 at its highest, although over the last few days I have gone a little crazy ! The point being that normally all I play is $50 SNG's but these last few days I have for some unknown reason (very probably greed) statred playing $200 SNG's. I have in the past played the occasional $100 which was not a problem but going onto $200 is making me worry that I am jumping way too high too early.Basically I know all about bank rolls and obviously $3000 is not enough to be playing $200 SNG's, I just dont know what I am playing at.My bank roll is now at $2700. Although over the past few days it has bounced between $1800 and $3500.I need some advice please. This probably sounds like a load of rubbish but hopefully someone might be able to put me onto the straight and narrow so that I dont lose my bank roll.Cheers.Andy. showtime 0
I think you would be better off taking a break from poker just to get your head straight for a few days. Stay away from the cards for a few days and you're sure to do better the next time you sit down at a poker table.
ArseneLupin3 0
Um. Don't play $200 sngs. You pretty muched answered your own question. Assuming that you're a relative newbie, the odds of your going broke at that buyin level are honestly near 100%. Stick with the $50s until you have more confidence, and then move up to $100+9. You'll avoid the inevitable joys of losing your bankroll this way.

RISINGSHARK 0
Save that money for tin foil hats and that casino your buildingNice one, this is actually to be taken seriously. I know that I write a lot of 'not so serious stuff on here' but this one is deadly serious and I think I will now just play $50 SNG's until I hit $5000 and then play $100 for a week and see how I do.What you think me old china ? Apocalyptical 0
I found myself doing the same thing when I was doing well in the $50's, I moved up and tried a $200 one, got cleaned on a good hand. You should just stick to what's been working.A side note I think I remember playing against you in said $50 tourneys if your name is indeed RISINGSHARK on there (seems like it would be).My handle is Apokz... I do 4 tables when fresh and drop to 3 if I'm tired or having trouble concentrating (ie the wife is around!).As i said I'm lucky to get in 2 hours at a time so a per day rate is tough. It works out at about $30/hr for the 3/6. The 5/10 has only just started so no realistic figures there yetJan Feb and Mar though were all +$1000 (all 3/6)

I am happy with that ! Although the problem I suffer from is that I had this up to $3500 and I now feel like I need to get it to $3500 straight away as I feel like I am down $800. This I think is the reason I start playing $200 SNG's to chase my money.Do you know what I mean and any advice ?[/b']

Apocalyptical 0
Probably not a lot of Jeopardy in England.....I have the same problem with finding I have to move up in stakes or it just doesn't feel like I'm winning the same as I was when the BR was smaller. You just have to keep yourself in check, don't move up too fast or it will cost you alot of money as opposed to making it. I proceeded to go in 7 more or so and didn't win any money.. I think I went out on the bubble a few times too, just to add salt to the wounds.Very sad with the loss of all my profit plus some.. lesson learned..JackTheCat
monoatomic 0
Well look at it this way...You got 3500 or what 2700 now..$200 Sng's that's 13 sit and go's that you can play before you go broke. If you win 3 place 2nd in 1 and 3rd in another you will be back above 3500, if my calculations of what the payouts are.To me if you think that you can actually win at this level then continue to play. You moved up pretty fast in your bankroll and you want to continue to push it. You'd have to lose 13 straight sit and go's to go broke. The only thing holding you back right now is the money part. I can almost guarentee that in the past few sit and go's you played you kept checking your bankroll figures and worrying about losing. If you are worried about the money all the time you are going to go broke. So, if you want to continue go right ahead but if losing the money that you earned irks you so bad, cash out 1000 so you atleast can walk away with some money and just let loose with the rest. If you keep it all in your account then you are going to be tempted to "win it all back" if you have another down swing.
