He could very well be on the move. His salary isn't that much of a cap hit.

We'd probably have to give up more than gruven for them to take serge off our hands.

Derien Hatcher to Edmonton.
Peter Forsberg to Detroit or San Jose or Nashville or Anaheim.
Anson Carter to Vancouver.
There ya go.

It's still at the stage of trying to separate legit trade rumours from the ones planted by agents who want to move their clients. I have heard that Carter to Vancouver has been on the table for almost two months, with the Carter side wanting more than the 'Nucks are willing to offer. I think they're waiting for Vancouver to become truly desparate.
I heard today actually, that Toronto has been indicating to teams calling that they're not in the market as either a buyer or a seller (Which, as a personal opinion is the worst thing they could do: nothing).
Florida has been offering up anyone but Jokinnen or Bowmeester....
There may be more rumours confirmed in the next couple of days, but so many teams are close in the race that it makes it hard for teams to make a move until they solidify whether or not they're making the playoffs.
Also, one last one: Forsberg's ankle problems are so bad, that they have been freezing him to get him out there to play. Most teams are very leery of the Flyers when it comes to hiding medical problems. But the rumour is that his problem is so bad, he may not have any years left in him....

I've also heard Gary Roberts to Ottawa.

Thanks Gruven..great tidbits
I find it really interesting that the Leafs are neither buying nor selling...They are truly in a unique situation..Damned if they do and damned if they dont

I've also heard Gary Roberts to Ottawa.
Right... Roberts agent contacted Toronto, but was given the 'We're not interested in making any deals at this point' speech. Roberts kids go to school in toronto, so that would make Ottawa a reasonable second choice....

Not exactly "interesting," just bad. They are in a situation where they don't know their identity and which way they are going, up or down. In the meantime, they are stuck in mediocrity (much like an AHL franchise I can think of) with older players in thier twilight years, and a rather bare future.
The reason they do this is MONEY. It's not what's in the best interest of the team long term, but instead, make them look competitive without any realistic shot of winning the cup.

Bingo. It's easy: make a decision as to what you want to be: mediocre now, or good down the road, then act either way. ...Actually, while you were posting this thread, Daniel, I was writing the exact same thing in another thread.... it's just true. The end.

The fact is that Toronto's best players IS in his twilight years. Tucker is not young, especially when you consider the type of game he plays. Jeff O'Neill is aging and has shown it in the last month. The young players that you mention Serge are not going to be gamebreakers.
Antropov sucks goats balls.
