Still in the Bodog 10/20. My image is on the loose side both preflop and postflop. No read on villian although he's been sitting a while so I guess that means he hasn't been real active.

Hero is HJ with J icon_suit_diamond.gif J icon_suit_club.gif.

Preflop: 2 folds, MP raises to $58, 2 folds, Hero calls, 3 folds

Flop ($146) 3 icon_suit_club.gif 4 icon_suit_spade.gif 5 icon_suit_spade.gif
MP bets $123, Hero raises to $390, MP reraises to $1,190

Villian has ~$800 behind after the raise. Push or fold?

I fold because I haven't seen him in very many pots. Best case scenario he has a monster draw. Without a read I fold, and hate myself for doing it.

Wait, so the cutoff called the preflop raise as well?

Then MP checked, you checked, CO bet, Mp folded, you raised, etc..??

Something is screwy here.

Sorry, trying to play and post at the same time. Only one villian in the hand, it's MP. Original post is duly edited.

personally I don't like raising this flop. only a few things you beat are calling you and almost everything that beats you is calling/raising.

after you raise the flop, if villain calls and bets the turn, what do you do? if villain 3bets the flop, what do you do? (obviously a tough decision, you made this post.)

personally I call the flop and bet (all safe, some dangerous) turns if checked to. If he instead fires what is essentially another PSB, that's when you make basically the same decision that you're trying to make on the flop, except with more information (the turn card) and a chance to let him slow down.

Edit: As played... ehh, it's a close call. If (possibly tight) villain has been watching the table and has you pegged as LAG, then he may be trying to steamroll you. but this is FR and for a possibly tight villain to raise UTG+2 and 3bet a flop of low cards, it feels like he's probably got a high pair.

Villain probably has three hands that we're way behind, one hand we're way ahead, or one/two hands that we're only slightly ahead. Based on that and given reads, I ideally fold. I'm not sure I'd do it in the moment...I think I could certainly "overthink" the situation and push.

As for the action, I'm not a huge fan of check-raising in this spot...but if we're going to do it, I think we need to be willing to let go. Even though in villain's shoes, I'd pounce on this play...I'd actually be somewhat tempted to donk the flop. Check/call isn't terrible...but the problem is that if we've got the best hand, we probably do need to provide some protection...as a lot of terrible cards can come off on the turn.

All said, it's not an easy spot, iggy.

I am really happy to enter in this site. Poker is one of the online gaming. It is very talented game. In poker game so many persons play with betting. It is almost gambling. It has so many types. Family members also play for fun with this game. We're all new players and we cannot play at 4 tables at once! It's incredible.

Yeah, I almost never raise the flop in position with a made hand actually, but in this spot just an ace has 7-10 outs, and I really didn't want to let villian see those for free. I don't know if I like smooth-calling this flop.

Woopsie. Hm. I really don't mind the raise at all then...and I'd actually consider popping it pre-flop...though I can see plenty of arguments for the flat call.

FTR, I did fold this hand. This is kind of a big laydown for me, as it's hard to say that villian wouldn't make this push with 66-TT, but I just had the feeling it was a big hand. He reraised pretty quickly, and I just really felt like he was trying to protect QQ or KK here. I don't know, tough spot.
