I'm calling.Turn ($47): 7 :D (2 players)Cobalt checks, CO bets $47, Cobalt raises to $182, CO callsShe min-raise and the c-bet. If I can catch a King or if the 9 pairs, I might be able to counterfeit her lower two pairs. I'm raising. If I take it down here, that's great.River ($411): K :D (2 players)Cobalt checks, CO bets $300, Cobalt callsI think we're going to showdown here one way or the other now. Might as well check, as if she thinks she's beaten, she'll fold when I lead out, but when I show weakness, she might try and steal.Final Pot: $1011Let's work through our thinking on this one.
How'd I do??

Let's work through our thinking on this one.
"I hate money." :)Seriously, without a read, I dont really like anything beginning with the call of her minraise. But I also only play full-ring, so I'm not used to the whole "nobody ever has a hand" thing at 5 handed tables.Edit: Alright I have trouble giving her credit for a hand here as well, and I somehow missed where you said your read on here was that she was at least a little aggressive. But if she's a thinking player, your line looks a lot like what you have. On the turn you c/r'ed the size of the pot, and I just don't see an Ace doing that. I'm interested to see what other people think about this play because a word that is coming to my mind is "unnecessary." That also might be because of my awful day earlier today and having people make the Calls of the Century on each street of a 8764K board with A4 and a board of TTJ34 with A7. I have forgotten that people will sometimes fold ATC.

At first glance this looks like obvious spewing.I don't mind the flop lead. You should pick the pot up often enough to make it worthwhile. I like the call of the minraise (given you have the Kd). I think her range is A-X, FD, a small pair or the 9. I think the 9 would more than minraise usually. The turn play is all about reads. If villain minraised the flop with a FD it is likely to be a ploy to buy a free river. If villain doesn't have an ace, she is definitely representing one effectively.I would quit here, tbh. If you think a 9, FD or a bluff would bet pot here then I don't mind it, but I would need a read.Your raise should get a draw or small pair to fold, so I would give up on the river. I don't call the $300 at the end, because it is going to be trips more often than anything else.

Pots so small just fold the flop and move on.
With no reads, it's an obvious fold on the flop. With a read, I realize that there's like a 5% or less chance she has the ace on this flop. Opponents that raise KJs in MP w/ a limper do not limp Ax in the CO. It doesn't fit at all. Therefore, I'm actually betting and calling because I think my K-high is probably good. I've taken the approach: "I know she doesn't have the ace...now how would I play it if I did?"This is also definitely not a pot that I'd play if I was playing more than 2 tables at a time. Not worth the effort/concentration in that case. As the table has my attention though, I felt it worth examining.

I like it a lot but it would suck if she turned over KJ. But I think raising on the river is suicide. I think your 5% chance is a little low though. I raise KJ and I will call with A2 and so forth...

I don't like that assumption. KJs plays a LOT better postflop than Ace rag which may be why she raised that with a limper in the pot and not Ace rag. Also, even if she has an ace 5% of the time like you say, we're paying so much this hand that even if she only has it 5% of the time we're losing money to look her up.I'm also curious to figure out what you're doing on the river if we don't hit a king.

I don't like that assumption.
I think it's a pretty safe assumption. If she's going to raise KJs with a limper and 4 left to act, she's going to open-raise Ax in the CO. If she's only got it 1/20 times, we're certainly getting the right price to look her up.As for the non-K river, gotta fold. Once she calls that turn, she may be on the diamond draw, but I can't really call $300 with K-high given the action.Working through my thinking a little more...Why's she betting the pot on the turn with trip aces? Especially when she's just min-raised the flop? The bet reeks of weakness...which I why I came over the top.

What I mean is this...Min-raises on the flop are usually pretty weak or pretty strong (though you'll occasionally get a player pulling it with a mediocre hand). The flop texture limits the range of her hands. We've already discounted the idea that she has an ace...therefore she can't be strong on this flop. She either has the 9, a flush draw, or some sort of air that she's trying to get tricky with. On the turn, she goes from making an "inviting" min-raise (not something you do to "protect" a hand) to betting the pot-size...a move that says, "Okay...I want to take this down now." Again, I'm not willing to give her an ace in that spot...and I can make a play consistent with my having the ace.

Cobalt,If she thinks you have something, what does she think you'll lay down for her river bet? Just wondering if we're at the level of thinking with this particular villain. Are you one of those players that if the river bricks for an obv. hand for the villain (say an offsuit K for the 9AA two-diamond flop) you're calling regardless with a 10-9, or does that K give you one too many overcards to worry about?

When I check the river, I've taken a very odd line and shown extreme weakness, so she can no longer really give me credit for the ace. She might put me on a 9, in which case she could be value-betting some sort of decent 9. Or...she might put me on a missed draw and be bluffing with her own missed draw. So it's a "bluff" if I've missed and a value bet (or a bluff if I'll fold) if I've got something.I've been thinking a bit more about the non-K river...when she's calls the turn, I feel like I've almost got to give up...but I suppose it'd also be possible to make a big "blocking" bet (as a bluff to stop a missed draw from bluffing). Problem is that if she's got a 9 and been this stubborn, she's unlikely to fold.

i havnt read replies...obviously this hand was played differently.this is almost always, either AA or absolute air.I doubt she open limps 99, but that is the only other hand I'd fear here...I think, judging from your read, she opens with AK, AQ, KJ, KQ, KT, K9s, so I'd rule out those...def. looks like a busted flush draw, especially with the weird bet on the turn, and the large bet on the river. So, as I said, either an absolute monster, or a total bluff. I'm going with bluff. and if she has quads, well played by her...and an unlucky "quote un quote" river card..cause I can't see you folding how this was played.- Jordan

i'm very curious how you think this can possibly be AA here. Folded to an agg in the CO, 5-handed, open limp with AA. I don't see it. i would presume this is AA < 1% of the time.

Depends on her trickiness level. Based on pre-flop and post-flop play, I'd tend to agree that it's AA before any other decent ace or 99.

she'll open limp AA much more often than 99/A2-AT, at the CO, in an un opened/raised pot.it goes along the general theory of my post.that being said...She either has quads (unlikely) or absolute air (likely). Thus, I call, cause it's unlikely she has AA and flopped quads, making me put her on a busted draw, and my 2 pair, goot.- Jordan

You got lucky and laid a nasty river beat on slow played pocket tens.

K9 make sense?
meh, if it's sooted then I could see that.but like I said, she is going to raise her weak hands her much more often than not.she'll limp AA here hoping to get the blinds involved and flop big and stack them, or play a small pot in position.she'll usually raise those weird hands, like K9s, or whatever, in hopes of picking up the pot on the flop, or preflop....if she does have K9, we are splitting anyways..but i mean...honestly, she'll be raising rags much mroe often than just limping in...she'll limp more often with big hands like AA..and raise her medium pairs...blah blah balh- Jordan

to me this kinda contradicts the reasons to play an aggressive style. imo aggs raise a variety of hands as well as big hands in order to get paid off on their big hands. at least in my years of playing the game this is my analysis. i just don't see an aggressive player limping AA in the CO / 5 handed. not saying i disagree with ur analysis just for me it contradicts my general knowledge of playing aggressively

It's not something you'll see often, but I have seen it on occasion.

I really, really like the way you played it on the flop and turn..but you've shown pretty solid strength; bet/call, c/r turn..and she's still betting the river? I call the river because of the price I'm getting, but, I don't know that I'm gonna like what I see. Also, I think your line kinda would imply to me--monster or nothing, in which case, I check if I'm her, and have a rough ace, or a hand like K9, QQ--anything non-boat, really.
