Well last night I was playing in a mixed cash game, I was doing really well and then we hit triple draw. I have never played triple draw before and I only played it because I wanted to learn. To make a long story short, I sucked, I lost a lot of money on this game and I was just wondering if anyone could offer any basic advice on how to play this game...Thanks.

Do you own SS2? If so there's a very good section on triple draw written by Daniel. Were you playing 2-7 or A-5? That will effect any tips - which will basically be a simplified version of what's in SS2. Triple Draw's a fun game.

Triple draw is a game advanced players will call at home games to bait fish. It's always expensive and the better players almost always win big.Sit out games you don't know if you like money.

As for advice on the game, Daniel has articles on 2-7 TD all over the place, if you search you will find some. He has an excellent understanding of this game, he might even call it his strongest poker game.It is a very disciplined game. More often than not, you will notice people lose most of the time because they will throw away a 9 or a 10 high on the last draw for hopes of catching a better hand.Good beginning advice is to fold any hand you are dealt if you don't begin with at least three cards that are 9 or lower.Stay pat with an 8 high on any draw.Only draw with a 9 high on the first round of drawing.Fold a 10 high or worse unless you have a very solid read or unless there isn't much action.

I'd go even tighter. Pat 7s and good 8s just stand pat, and bet (you might have a judgement call w/ the 8 later, but deal with that later).Play one card draws to 7s and "good 8s" e.g. 8-4-3-2 or 8-5-32Play two card draws to a 7 when you also have a 2 and have position or are in the blinds.Don't play a 3 card draw unless your in the blinds and you have either a 2 or a7 or you're getting a free draw.Watch how many cards you're opponents draw. See who draws less and who draws more - as well as who stands pat. This will give you an indication of how to play the next betting round. If you drew less cards or improve - bet out. If you didn't improve and are behind (e.g. you drew two - and there's an opponent drawing 1) fold.On the second draw, again watch how many people are getting. If you are ahead or are now pat - bet. If you're behind fold. After the third draw, you'll either have a hand or you won't. Play accordingly. This is grossly oversimplified, and probably not the optimal way to play, but you won't get killed while you're learning.
