What Gameplan Would You Suggest?

I am going to go to Borgata this weekend to play in the ladies event, What game plan would you use?Last year there were 270 players and paid the top 10%. Starting chips are $5000 and levels are 40 minutes. LEVEL ANTE BLINDS 1st - $25 - $50 2nd - $50 - $100 3rd - $75 - $150 4th - $100 - $200 5th $25 $200 - $400 6th $50 $300 - $600 7th $75 $400 - $800 8th $100 $600 - $1,200 9th $200 $800 - $1,600 10th $300 $1,000 - $2,000 etc., etc.

Be aggressive with strong hands. Wear something tight. Don't splash in a lot of pots. Take photos. Use position like a hammer.Send the photos and 50% of your winnings to me.

Probably shave, put on a wig and wear feminine clothing. Oh, and get a fake ID. I don't think it would work though.

It's a pretty typical structure, what did you expect? You might as well just say "how do I play a poker tournament". The only real advice I'd give is that since the structure is somewhat fast and the ante comes early to make sure you steal fairly liberally starting in level 5. I'd expect to see a decent number of players not used to playing in a big tourney who will be surrendering their blinds and antes fairly easily.

Many apologies.As Iggy says, the jump from level 4 to level 5 the key. Assuming you have $10k at that point and you are 10 handed, at level 4 your M is 33, and at level 5 your M is less than 12.Most players won't adjust sufficiently to this.

thank you iggy and simo, I guess I should have been a little more specific, I do not play live poker tournys that often, this will be my 4th, and I guess I could have been a little more specific and I was trying to get an idea of how you would approach it. Since I am inexperienced, I'm thinking alot more about how I plan to play, and where I'd like to be chip count wise. I realized after the last tournament I played, that I hadn't made the mental adjustment, time wise, to the slow nature of live play vs. playing on the internet. I hurried through alot of my decisions and rushed much more than I needed to. I will make a note of the change between level 4 and 5, appreciate the help!

Don't worry too much about where your chip stack is at either. I find that I tend to pay too much attention to where I am in regards to the average stack or the largest stack and in so doing put a lot of undue pressure on myself and sometimes make moves before I need to. All that really matters is your M (your stack in relation to the blinds and antes). Instead of trying to "keep pace" or make sure your in "good shape in the tournament" just make sure that your making +EV decisions on each hand.

It looks like for the first two hours you can afford to play some decent poker. If the table allows you to limp in then do so, see if you can hit the flop hard or make nut draws and hope that you get odds to call for them (more than likely if people are limping in). The structure looks pretty good, play solid and try and accumulate the chips to keep on top of the blinds.

Thanks Finz! After alot of planning etc., I ended up having to cancel my trip due to some very bad news I recieved on behalf ofmy young nephew. So, unfortunatly, didn't play. I was very disappointed to say the least. Looking for another event to play in soon, but for now will continue to muck it up online.
