BeaverStyle 1
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)UTG (t16950)UTG+1 (t21939)MP1 (t12664)MP2 (t5314)MP3 (t6205)CO (t41690)Button (t22370)Hero (t10463)BB (t2213)Preflop: Hero is SB with Q , Q . UTG raises to t1600, 6 folds, Hero ?????UTG hasn't really gotten out of line, has played pretty tight.Hero calls t1200, BB calls t800.I call here to trap if the flop comes low cards w/ no K or A.Flop: (t4000) J , 5 , 6 (3 players)Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets t4000, Hero raises to t8813, BB folds, UTG calls t4813.Love it? Hate it?Critique it.I was trying to mix it up a lil bit here w/ my play, but when he bets 4k into the pot of 5200, he's obviously going to and has to call my reraise to 8k. Is there anything I'm really beating here that plays the hand this way?

It can and did induce BB to let the hand go cheaply, when he probably should push if hes going to play at all. UTG has a lot of hands that could (not necessarily should!) play this way that you beat. AJ, AK, flush draws, middle pairs.
dingas 0
If villain is really tight, I think maybe you can lead for 1/2 pot on the flop and fold to a push. Then lead any non-ace turn if called.
ChrisRichey 1
I like it. I've seen way too many min-raises utg that turn out to be small-mid pp's, so I don't give them that much credit anymore.
