I'm used to the cold, and I find that it feels good. Checking the temp in KC it shows 11 degrees...it get much colder than that the farther north you go.I actually wish it was 11 degrees here in Illinois because a frozen pond or lake makes a happy aadams_22

I have talked with the mayor of Carbondale on more than one occasion regarding an ice rink. He told me the only thing holding it up is an investor willing to front the money to build it. I know with all of the kids from Chicago and St. Louis at SIU that the rink would go over extremely well.

I'm not sure what that map exactly shows....I guess "Surface Wild Chill" and "Real Feel" are not the same. The map says -35 here.

I'm in NYC too. It's so bloody cold, I can't believe it!!!!I had sweatshirt, winter coat, gloves, everything. I only had to walk the equivalent of three NY blocks. I'm pretty sure I almost died.I watched this show recently on the Discovery Channel about people climbing Mt. Everest. I'm starting to sympathize.

All of Iowa declared a disaster zone... wonderful.http://www.woi-tv.co...p;nav=menu115_1I don't know if many of you know, but Iowa is where two transcontinental interstates intersect. I-80 which runs from Philadelphia to San Francisco... and I-35 which runs from northern Minnesota to San Antonio. Well both interstates are completely closed across the entire state.... awesome. Did I mention it's March?

I'm beginning to think that living in Iowa is a bad idea. You may remember this thread from this past summer, and now it's winter and Iowa is winning on the opposite end of the spectrum.Posted ImageClick me.This map is LIVE surface temperatures, including wind chill
It's not unusual for Iowa to see -25 in January and +105 in August.
