JacKingOff_suit 0
I've cashed out some poker winnings and want to invest them into ETF and index funds for long term investments (I am not planning to use them and just let them sit there and roll like 10 years+). Is it the right time to buy them now? I guess my real question is, since the stock market usually goes up around the end and the begining of the years, so should I wait for a few months til it drops then I get in, or it makes no difference since it's a long term? What ETFs should I be invested in? QQQQ for example? Thanks a lot.

Never mind I will search some stcok forums if no one else replies.
Yoda 1
If you are concerned with short term fluctuations affecting the price you get in at, you can purchase portions of the whole amount. For example if you have $10000. Invest $2500 every month or every 3 months. These strategies usually suggest if you see a significant dip during this period but you are still confident in the investment that you should just dump in the rest. But if you are talking 10+ it shouldn't make much of a difference. And the markets have been down for the year despite the usual January run up. So go ahead and dive in, the waters fine I think..
