Sunday Million Help/advice

Recommended Posts

After finally "getting it together" in the past few months and feeling like I have a decent tourney game, I'm gonna give the sunday million a shot this week, and thought I'd ask you guys for some tips and advice...What are the starting stacks? Do the levels allow for a decent amount of play? What's the play like in the early stages?Any other tips, etc?? Thanks!

I think you'll get more/better responses if you post this in Tourney Strat or the General Forum. I think most of the people who frequent General Strat play primarily cash games.

You have to play fast from the start.... I played the Party Poker Sunday Million a few times back when PP still took US deposits... The first time I played it, I was shocked by the quick paced blind structure and wasn't able to get anything going until I was eventually forced into "all in mode" with any playable hand.... Unless you get a great rush of cards in the beginning, try to gamble early and play aggressive off the bat. If you can build a comfy chip stack, then you can be more selective and play your own style. With 6000 players, its obviously going to be a donkfest, even when you reach the later stages... Just grind away as best as you can, and do your best to get your chips in with the best of it.... Good luck

i agree that you'd get better advice in the tourney section. i played it for the first time last sunday but fouled up the times and came in an hour late at the first break.i had 8400 and i think it was 100/200 level so i think the starting stacks are 10000. i felt really uncomfortable the whole time and just felt like i had get chip and get chip. looking back, i think you might want to gamble a little bit in the beginning (first hour maybe risk like 3000 or 4000) to try and get chips, but if you don't then you sit back and play very HOH. i think people will probably just give you their chips if you let em.

Don't 'gamble' early, but play v aggressive. PokerDB ALL your opponents. If theres one guy who usually plays micro stacks, u have to determine whether hes really nervous play his 1st big tourney, or if hes willing to gamble alot playing his first big tourney. if hes playing tight, push him around and semi bluff alot. pro players will often play TAG, so pushing them around is possible too, coz they usually play tight early on. obv thatm enas if they get rly involved, they probably have a hand.table reading is v important early. chances are, ur table will have ALOT of soft spots. take advantage of them. i think something that is not considered much in big (no. of players big) tournies is that the main money is deep. so you want to build yourself to go deep from the start. tournies that pay 2 or 3 tables mean that when you get ITM, the ft isnt a long way away. of course with fields og 800+, it is a long long (long) way away.
