This is a play I use often in NL holdem when I have position. If I think my opponent called with a draw on the turn and checks on the river, I will check with a marginal hand like top pair with a weak kicker, or 2nd pair. Do you check the river most often, or do you like to try to bet when you think your opponent missed?

you should check in the spotyou described.....if you bet in that spot with a marginal hand and get raised its tough for you to call a big raise.....if you have amarginal hand you think is good i would check in on the end, only bet you know your hand is the best and could prob stand up to a raise

Checking the river in position is never a bad play if you have any doubts about either your hand being best or fearing a big check raise on the river
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

you answered your question... if you sense your opponent missed his draw, why would you bet?1. your hand can only beat a busted draw.2. only a hand that has you beat will call your bet.3. a missed draw will either fold or bluff-raise you. if you get raised, would you be comfortable calling with a marginal hand?aseem

Yea it all depends on the board. If theres no draw at all out there then you might just be getting called down by top pair weak kicker or 2nd pair. There's no real easy answer ebcause it depends on each hand and board, but it's a move that everyone should use.
