Flushgarden 0 Posted December 28, 2006 Share Posted December 28, 2006 How was this year for you, and how is your bankroll now compared to a year ago?For me, a year ago at this time I barely knew the basic rules of Texas Holdem. I had never actually played the game or really any other forms of poker for that matter. I'd seen it on ESPN a few times but that was it. It was sometime in January of this year when my wife told me about a husband of one of her coworkers who won some money playing online poker, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I started off with play money on Yahoo Poker (yeah lol) and after 2 weeks or so on there I was winning more than I was losing so I was ready to play for real money. lolLong story short, I ended up dropping about 10 $50 deposits by playing stupidly and out of my bankroll in my first 3 months before I wised up and got serious about learning how to play properly. I joined this forum which helped me a lot, and Dan Harrington helped me a lot, and starting around June of this year I started climbing out of my hole and became a winning player at low limits. In the last 6 months I've gotten better and better. I've taken down a few MTTs and I've won 7 or 8 180 man SNGs. I ended up with 19 final tables on Party before it shut down. My ROI since then on Stars is about 60%, and I'm up about $3000...not too shabby for somebody who didnt know how to play at all last January. I'm getting better and better and I'm planning to take my game and my BR to higher levels soon. I'm really looking forward to 2007. I'm chomping at the bit like DN right now. Before then I would deposit $50 to a site, build it up through sng's, then lose it at a ring game.In mid-October I took it a lot more serious when I started getting help from a successful player. I'm up about $2k in these past three months playing mtts, which I don't find THAT bad since I had some huge losing streaks and had to get used to playing a totally new style than what I used to play.I think 2007 will be a good year for me, winning numerous large mtts and maybe even qualifying for a WSOP seat or two. grocery_mony 9 Posted December 28, 2006 Share Posted December 28, 2006 made about 2k online in 2006. year started out pretty slow then i had a $1300 cash on full tilt. then i started trying some omaha hi/lo and razz ring games and realized abou -$900 later that i should stick with what i love nlh tournaments. I won my first mtt ever in june os stars for about $1500 then didnt get to play very much because of work for the rest of the summer. got back into the swing of things in september and didnt have any ft's. started playing the 180's on stars last month and had some good results but havent been able to win one yet. i also booked about $1000 profit on a trip to vegas in tourneys but gave most of it back to drunken blackjack and slots. i am happy with my progression and it is nice to not have to deposit month after month like the previous year(put 350 into netteller early in march and havent redoposited since) i had to take $1000 out of my BR earlier this year though due to bad run of small dissasters with my townhouse and truck i wish i still had in my br. Made too many silly mistakes regarding game selection and bluff selection.Did OK, but can do better and really looking to turn it up in terms of profit in 2007.Looking to make game selection my priority, as it is clearly the most important factor in money-making. Always knew it, but didn't practise it enough. Bored and tired of playing equals or superiors - I've got a decent 'skill set' in that I play many games fairly well. But now i don't want to 'prove it'. I just want to slaughter some lambs and take the money. There it is.... Link to post Share on other sites

DmsTips 0 Posted December 28, 2006 Share Posted December 28, 2006 Played for about 3 years prior to this year, depositing 50, losing etc. In may of this year my friend decided to stake me 50/50 at 1/2 NL (he already ft'd the bodog 100k for 14k and won over 50k in 30/60 limit)Created my own 2k bankroll from my friends stake, then got high enough for 2/4 and have been there ever since. I don't have exact numbers (i'll have to figure it out at tax time) but i think i've made close to 45k at 2/4 since july. Not really moving up because I spend too much money(always keeping a proper bankroll though). I do play some 3/6 nl but I prefer 2/4.I did have some decent tourney cashes and 1 win (4k). Four other cashes were between 3k and 4k. I just couldn't close the deal with 4-7 people left.edit: looking this over, i love parentheses Link to post Share on other sites
