Bankroll Question

Ok, so don't blame me for being lazy, but the new "search engine" blowsso anyways, what's a limit player like me who likes my bankroll to be 350 - 400 bb expect the bankroll at nl ?I am virtually a newb to nl ring games.....I suppose you measure your bankroll by buy-in's, not BB.10 buy ins? 100 ? 1000? 10000? 1 gajilion ?Thank you

Yes, measured by buy-ins.20-25 buy-ins seems to be the preferred rule for nl.

haha whoops! Maybe it's just the gambler in me, but I only need 13 buy-ins to feel comfortable playing a certain level. I've found it's really tough to drop more than 2 buy-ins in a night(doesn't mean I haven't dropped 5 or 6, but still...). Honestly, you can maybe get by on 8 if you are comfortable with the level. The key is just being comfotable with the level before moving up. I've found myself jump up a level and the first time I get stacked it makes me a little sick because it's twice what I'm used to losing. Part of this for me is the fact that I'm a student and can't afford to keep too much in my bankroll, so I probably gamble a little more with the levels. I'm more than comfortable with 15 buy-ins. Once I hit 20 buy-ins I usually try to hop up to the next level because I like makin' the money! haha....If you aren't trying to climb the level ladder and don't have to cash out frequently then 15-20 buy-ins is safe. Just have enough to where you are comfortable losing a couple of buy-ins at a particular level without your bankroll shrinking too much.Hope that helps.

Like everything else it depends. The main factor is you SD/100 hands and what you edge is in the games you play. Since your a noob to NL, 30 buyin min. As you get better and move up, the number goes down as well. A solid winning player should keep 20 buyins. Some argue that 20 isn't enough, but there life nits.

I'm a new NL player and i was a solid limit player (+2bb/100). For someone starting NL online I would suggest more than 30.Maybe I just suck but I'm playing with 100+ buy-ins (not that I expect you to do so) and even I tilt a little when i get sucked out on/take a bad beat.

The general standard was always 50 buy ins, but most everyone that plays feels like that is way high. If this is your only roll, and if going busto means quitting poker and getting a different job, maybe you want to stay closer to that. But for the most part, I think 20 buy ins is a pretty comfortable level to have available.Mark

or just play whatever game looks good as long as you don't have a huge chunk of your roll on the table at any one time and are willing to move down when the you lose some.I like 20 if I get down to 15 I move down and if I get to 25 I start taking shots at the higher level. Works for me, but I have a job.
