i love floating people.a solid player isnt often calling your turn bet with ui overs unless its qk. i think you are getting called on that river a whole lot. its a great bet for image but at that limit is anybody really watching?

wouldn't a solid player have 3-bet or lead with over pairs/sets.And would they really put me on a free card raise on that flop?
which is my point. when he calls your turn bet he (in my eyes) sucks. i expect to get called with ak or aq a whole lot on that river, unless youve seen him call the turn before and fold the river in a similar situation. i mean i guess it cant be a bad bet, but im not sure its a good one.

Even if they call the turn with overs, they may fold the river. They might suck at math or hope I'm as bluffing dope or, will check behind with something like QJ and they can see for free.I think I have to bet the river after betting turnObviously, I was King of SLAPs before and would have not put anymore money in after the flop, UI.

You don't HAVE to bet the river when you bet the turn. The turn was a continuation semi-bluff, and he looked like he wanted to look you up. He could be on a draw, too (which we always beat, unless it's exactly QK), which would be good for our hand. He might have something like AdQd, which would explain the turn call. I think- against this player- I'm slightly more concerned that he'll call down. I think this is the best spot for a free-card play. We're heads up, likely against two overs, and our opponent is pretty passive. No reason to get into a dookie match here. Against a guy like this, I'm inclined to give him a little credit, realize I have less fold-equity than normal, and try to get to the river for a single extra small bet. But I don't mind firing at the turn. He's pretty solid, so he looks like he's going to fold most hands when he has absolute air. To bet the river, you have to be certain he has KQ, AK or AQ, because he'll call with anything else. And there's a good chance he'll look you up with AK/AQ (but players like this DO like to fold rivers U/I more than they should). It's probably pretty close, but I think my ordered set of preferences is:Raise flop, check turn, fold river UIRaise flop, bet turn, bet river UIRaise flop, bet turn, check river UII think option one is easily our best, with option two and option three being relatively close. He'll make a bad laydown 1/8 times here, right? Wang

I don't see overs calling me down here. This board does not say "I have nothing but a draw, call me down"But then again, I don't have much experience bluffing rivers, so I'm not sure what to expect. I used to be the guy who would c/c a lot of rivers with AQ when the obvious draws missed and they were only calling me on flop and turngiven, I don't play fast and loose, I would expect overs to almost always fold. Certainly, over 1/3 times

Against a lot of players and depending how youve been playing i think this turn should be a bet more than a check.

Did anyone point out this is an UTG raise? Did we have any stats on him?I don't hate this line. I think his range, you have to bet the river after betting the turn though. His hand almost ALWAYS beats Q-high here. It's an UTG raise. HE doesn't have a different draw that we beat. Betting the river MAY fold AK, AQ, AJ. It MAY fold a smaller pair even. It only has to fold him 13% of the time to show a profit.

That was my thinkin on the hand too which is why i felt he would probably call with ak type hands...but its a solid play if you think the villian will lay down ace high
