goose 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Author Share Posted December 14, 2006 You should at least use a better analogy.... take a look at Jan Caloun, he's worst case scenario for Pavelski: Called up to the Sharks in 95, 96, scored 8g3a in 11 games, then spent an illustrious career in Finnish, Russian, Czech leagues, as well as 2 more games the next year in SJ and stellar year in the AHL. goose 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Author Share Posted December 14, 2006 yes, but I think Caloun's similarity at this point is scary lol, especially if for whatever reason the sharks end up sending him back down to the AHL before he hits the 1 year tenure part of the contract or whatever.Also Kvaralnov was a first round pick, whereas Caloun was a late round pick, plus Caloun played for the sharks, plus Kvartlanov was a smaller player than Pavelski (I bet he would be good in the new NHL actually). How does a guy put up 30 goals and 72 points in his first year (albeit as a 27yo rookie), then get shuttled back and forth between Boston and Providence before being run back to Russia?Gotta be a story there, I just don't know it. goose 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Author Share Posted December 14, 2006 He was absolutely terrible defensively.... he became too big of a liability, even though the "Bonanza Line" (Kavartlanov, Joe Juneau, Adam Oates) was a huge hit that year.... the Bruins had a bunch of Russians on that team that were the same (i.e. Ruziska). As a kid (and still today) we used to play NHL 94 religiously, and my friend would always pull Oates, Neely, and Juneau to dress the Russians (Pantalaev, Kavartlanov, Ruziska).... lol Link to post Share on other sites

Used to get my entire team thrown out of the game aside from the bare minimum of guys it would take to finish the contest, just by blasting into the ref at any opportunity.
