Short Handed Vs Full Tables

I'm making the move from Hold Em, where I much prefered the short handed table, so I went straight to the SH O8 tables.After reading Aki's post I wonder if I was wrong.Do you guys think the value of playing full ring is so much that I should stop SH altogether until I get my game on?I'd give myself a 4 on a scale of 1-10 on playing O8 skillfully.Up in the .25/.50 PLO8 after a very short time, but many times I'm lost in the hand so I'll stay in these low levels until I get some skills.Thanks for input.

O8 is one of the most profitable games with the least amount of variance. SH O8 is even more profitable, but has more variance.play some heads up O8 Sngs. HU PLO8 sngs will make you fully realize the value of importance is this game (PLO8). even LO8 sngs will force you to play more hands and you can get more comfortable playing all hands. for SHLO8 check of the recent threads we had on the subject. Checky's posts are second to none on the subject.for relative beginners full ring is still recommended. IMO short handed places way more importance on succesfully defining your opponents hand. even if you are good at reading people in HE, O8 is a completely different beast in this regards. this is a skill that is cheaper to develop at full ring.you also have to have a pretty sick desire to gamble at SHO8.goodluck.

Bear in mind that LO8 and PLO8 are really different games.If you want to develop solid basics in the game then I would suggest concentrating on Full Ring Limit first to get the hang of the split pot nature of the game and especially hand selection. Then if you crave more frequent action adapt to SHLO8 and if you want bigger action, start on the PLO8 trail.
