If the academy isn't going to nominate him for Amistad, when he should actually WIN the oscar(which he should have, BTW)... it sure as hell won't even nominate him for Blood Diamond. Ah to be a rich movie star.The whole blood diamond political and war conection thing was warped out of context only as a Hollywood Liberal can but the movie was good. I think he's an excellent actor, but his accents really suck.I thought his accent was pretty good (I grew up in Johannesburg). There were a few parts where you could tell he was trying too hard and it didn't come off well, but overall I think he pulled it off. Adding some of the slang terms made it more believable. Secondly, I know me and regardless if there are monkeys flying out of his butt, I'm gonna notice him butchering an accent. Just like Brad Pitt in The Devil's Own totally butchering an Irish accent, one of the easier accents to do.That being said, when this movie makes it to HBO or Starz, I'm sure I'll tivo it.
