It might sound far fetched with Malkin out there , however Penner is having a phenomenal rookie campaign..Only 2 goals behind Malkin...An injury or something weird and Penner is right there...

Just to show that Draft picks are useless..Dustin Penner was a pickup last year...

Thats right a pick up...

You conveniently left out the fact that it wasn't a pick up by you.

And he's not eligible for the Calder.

Malkin's injury would have to be a car accident that also eliminated Wolski, Kopitar, Stastny, and Matt Carle. Penner is certainly a blue chipper, but he also benefits greatly from playing on a phenomenal team.
I'd say he doesn't even get nominated at this point....

I say he is better the 4 you mention and obviously not as good as Malkin..He will score close to 30 goals...guarenteed nominated

I really hope Pavelski scores a 3rd period hat-trick.

Zajac has a better shot than Penner, and Zajac has no shot.

kopitar is a 19 year old putting up nearly a point per game on a bad kings team.

penner is a 24 year old benefitting from being on an exceptional team.

i'd take kopitar over penner every team.

I know Ollie is perhaps the most likable guy in the history of the world but the man love for him is bordering on the ridiculous. :)

Malkin will take it hands down, providing he isn't injured.

So when they are picking rookie of the year do you think they look at the players age and the strength of his team..WRONG...they dont..

the fact that he is 19 years old means that he wont finish strong...I guarantee it...Penner is a much better player than all rookie candidates except for Malkin

So you're willing to go so far as to say that Penner will be the RUNNER-UP in the ROY? ooooh, I smell a BETTER bet...
