to a very tough question. My game is in shambles. My only success is in limit and only at the .5/1 level (I play on UB). It's the only game I win somewhat consistently. I'm too cheap right now to go up and I get impatient at lower levels. I don't multi-table, don't have the attention span for it.I love NL, but my budget (I don't have a bankroll other than what I have deposited online about $100) doesn't allow me to play high stakes. For example, I'll eeck out 10BB at .5/1 in an two hour session and blow $15 at ..1/.25 NL in 30 minutes.I love SNG's, but can't risk more than 5.5 since I don't regularly cash. (My ROI is around -3%).In live games, I'm a money pit, I'm stuck around $1000 from playing about 10 total sessions of 3/6/12, 1/2 PL and .5/1 NL. My one winnins session was +350 playing the PL where I hit every draw I was going for by the turn. Easy to make money that way.The way I figure it, I've got the following leaks.Patience. I like to play tight, but invariable let my standards slide to get more action. Not observant enough. I like to think I've got good instincts as I've won some key hands making some really good reads on my opponents (selective memory maybe tho'). I think I really need to hone my observation and reading. Not smart enough. I'm not the fastest at calculating pot-odds and figuring out if it's wise to fold/call or raise, but I'm smart in general and have the potential to improve. My biggest problem is that I frequently figure out my outs to the second best hand which means even if I hit, I was screwed. This maybe just lack of experience (about 6 months playing live games for real stakes). Lack of experience. Right now I"m paying a high price learning at the tables. Is there a way to lessen the steepness of the learning curve?PositivesFor some reason (and I may be deceiving myself) I have a good table image. My raises get respect and my bluffs (often mis-timed however) frequently work. I "talk" a good game, which I believe makes people respect my moves a lot more than necessary. Maybe I'm coming across as unpredictable, which is not what I believe I should be (or is it?).Goals (in order of importance).I play a lot of tournaments and it's frequently the easiest game to find locally. I like the one price to play all night concept. I'd like to improve substantially my tournament play. CUrrently the best I've ever done is finish one off the cash in a local 20 player tourney and online I came in like 5 in a MTT to earn $80. (I also cashed bonus dollars in a Freeroll, what a waste of time, it 3.5 hours to earn $2 B$.Improve my NL game. Online or live I'd really like to improve my success rate. As I mention above, I'm a real money pit at this.Curriculum to date:Super System1 (NL and L Holdem sections)Theory of Poker (Whoa, this was an eye opener. I'm constrantly re-reading sections of it). Current Challenge.I bought four books. Harrington, Caro's Tells, SSHE and Holdem for Advanced Player.RequestIn what order and what should I concentrate on in reading these books. I'm starting with Harrington since I've heard it's really good for tournament strategy. But do the other books offer any low hanging fruit that might help me more? This is a case study on how to improve as a player....Any insight (and criticism) is appreciated.Go easy gentlemen (and ladies). Thanks for reading this far.Any advice is welcome.
very direct answer....

I'm always available for questions if you want to seek me out. Post hands that give you problems and I'd be open to go over your HHs if you desire. For NoLimit Harrington is great, for limit read and keep on rereading SSHE before you read HEFAP. Caro's is great but it sounds like you need to work on your fundementals first. Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have

As much flack as its getting in another thread, Killer Poker Online would be perfect for you. Per-fect. I would highly recommend it to somebody I knew in a similar situation.Just know it's a little light on the in-depth strategy, and more focused on the socio- and psychological aspects of the online game.
