8/16 six maxUTG is not a maniac but is very aggro with a hand. For example, he three-bet a J-high flop with AJo after I check-raised, I capped, turn brick, I bet, and he still raised ui. Also peels somewhat loosely with overcards. Raising range preflop is probably standard, and he does cbet.MP is a fish. Complete calling station overall, but has a tendency to bluff with bet/folds occasionally. Not sure exactly how that applies here but some food for thought.Hero is Button with As Ts.UTG raises, MP cold-calls, ..., Hero cold-calls, ..., BB calls.(8.5 sb, 4 plrs) Ah 8h 4dBB checks, UTG bets, MP raises, Hero ...Don't care much about preflop, I know three-betting is an obvious option but I didn't like my hand compared to UTG's range. Is the flop a three-bet or a cold-call, and if the latter specifically, why and what's the plan if UTG three-bets, and if the former, what's the plan if one of them caps? And what's the plan on the turn? (e.g. heart, A, 8, 4, brick, etc.)Thanks,Aseem
After a long hiatus, my poker blog is back!

Umm... what are UTG's preflop tendencies? Any reads on those?Beyond that, this flop is interesting and very tough to play.Damn SH is soooo reads based. I think we are a bit too strong to fold here, cold calling sucks as a general rule, most of the time. With the information we have, I think I'd like to 3 bet. The beauty about this is that we have position on the turn.Say we 3-bet, and it gets called in one or two spots, I'd usually bet a non heart if checked to, definitely bet a T, probably bet/fold in each of these spots though, same with an 8 or a 4.If it gets capped by either player, obviously we are seeing the turn. Also, in any event, I'm folding for 2 cold on the turn.If UTG caps, and it's one bet to us on the turn, I may be more inclined to call down, as he could be overplaying something else again. Pot will be pretty big. We'd be getting 5ish to 1 to call down. I would raise if we spike a T.If MP caps, I'd be more inclined to fold the turn UI as per your read of him being less aggro than UTG.***********As an aside, how do we feel about just calling, contrary to my thoughts above, and seeing if UTG 3-bets, and if MP caps? The only thing I'm worried about there is if UTG senses our call as weakness and 3-bets worse than us, although given his UTG raising range, we are prolly way behind... thoughts?- Zach

The problem with playing AT preflop to 2 bets is the obvious threat of being dominated. The Ace falls on the flop, and your opponents tell you that you are dominated by facing you with 2 more bets. This is not a pretty situation.Having said that, if I insist on continuing with this hand, I will 3bet.It will probably allow us to see a cheaper showdown if we are able to take control of the hand.--CM
