I thought Goc would finally get his shot at 2nd line Centre with Cheech/Mikalek out, but then Pavelski steps in, **** lol. At least I got Pavelski though.Saprykin has been a very pleasent surprise for me this season (had 1g1a tonight), and obviously I've got a fair bit banked on Weiss.

I got him for nothing, and at the time I don't think it was a bad move picking him up. It was either him or a 5th round draft pick or something, and at the time he had 4 points in 6 games to start the season in Hartford (of course he hasn't potted anything in the 11 games since lol...)The Rangers admitted he was a project when they drafted him, and he still has the skills - it's just a matter of applying them. For his upside I thought it was better to take a shot at him then get a 5th.Looks like he's a bust now more than I when I picked him up, but you never know (i.e. Robert Lang). Doesn't hurt to have him sit on the farm until I need the room. I know it's 95% certain he won't see the NHL, but considering the amount of late picks I have this year I'm not worried about losing one more.

Any players costing you $2 or $3 will severely eat into your cap.I am sure you have plans and have thought about this, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on my view from the outside.........then again, what do I know, I have the worst goalies in the league (always seems to be the argument against anything I say)

thats my whole point...there is very few amount of players that just step in and dominate the league..Crosyb,Ovechski, Malkin.....Very few...there are hundreds of these so called prospects that either take 5 years to develop or they just bust ...its very risky

Those are some fair criticisms, but to answer some of them:1) I plan on trading a lot of those draft picks, like I have already. I have no more 1sts for this upcoming year, but that's fine with me, as I now have Backstrom, Weiss, Umberger, Eriksson, A. Johnson, and Zajac as a foundation to build upong thanks to trading picks.I don't think everyone values draft picks the same, and I think I've done a good job of taking draft picks off people who undervalue them, and then trade them to people who value them more. Also, people definately value next year's picks way more than 2010/2011 picks, so picking them up to sit on them and turn around and trade them two years down the road is a good investment from my vantage point.2) Cash is an issue, and I agree I've stretched myself very thin for next year... veyr very thin lol, cash is definately a huge concern. But that's what it took to get Backstrom, and you guys might think I'm crazy, but I think Backstrom is going to be somewhere between Radulov//Malkin and Crosby/Ovechkin in terms of skill and potential scoring ability. I've put a lot of time in on Swedish boards and whatnot, and I think the hype surrounding him is legitimate. If I'm wrong I'll look like an idiot, but I'm willling to take a shot when I'm still an expansion team... it's not like losing those two firsts really crippled me (although I did want to keep one this year), and I don't think Sheppard is going to turn into anything more than a decent 2nd line playmaking centre at best.Cash the year after in 08/09 will be tight at $35, but not too tight, I'll still be able to pick or call up 3-4 more $2.00 players. Worst case scenario I have to trade a first or something for cash, which, with the amount I have, wouldn't be devastating to me. It's a little risky, and in certain ways I've cornered myself, I agree, if I see a great trade opportunity with a guy for $5.50 I can't take it, which is a little disapointing. He's pretty much untouchable, Adam. After trading away Jordan Staal last week, my only prospects right now are Backstrom and Rob Schremp. I'll need some cheap guys who I can only pay quarters to for the next few years who have the potential to be Tier 1's in the near future.

Semin is a left winger. The only time he and Ovecnkin play together is on the PP. Also, the major problem with Backstrom, a great player, is that he is more of a set up man than a scorer.The other thing I can't figure is why you wanted to throw Lehtinen into the deal. Backstrom is, and will be a great player, but I really do think that you gave up too much for him.

I'm well aware I overpaid for Backstrom. I'm okay with that, I'm willing to do that for a franchise player. Also, Backstrom's finishing skills are under-rated, while he'll definately be an assist guy with Ovechkin, I think he's going to surprise people with his goal numbers. As for Lehtinen, it was an incentive for the deal for him. He got a younger player in Mietennen, who I didn't need anyway because I have Eriksson. Also Lehtinen I'll turn around an shop because he has a good track record and he's not that old yet, somebody in Serge's position (or Swackers, Dawgs etc.) will be interested in him.
