ok we all know xbox 360 rushed to get the market before anyone else (the reason microsoft dominates the computer market is by rushing out shoddy products beofre anyone else 'hey its cheap but it sells') and therefore is out of the race, so what do you think is gonna win? wii or ps3.and while i am at it, although i think the ps3 is better than the wii can ever be, i thought this video was funny http://video.google.com.au/videoplay?docid...575504838642038

wii will sell great for tweens & die-hard nintendo fans, otherwise the ps3 should quickly dominate once developers get ramped up the cell processor-- the first games will probably look x-box 360-ish. kind of like how the early ps2 games looked chunky, but stuff like god of war is amazing for what's under the hood.

Your an idiot...The 360 has by far the largest market share of the next gen consoles. They have the best online setup between all of them for multi player gaming, and they have by far more killer apps than anything you will see on the PS3 for probably another year. There is nothing on the PS3 that can compete with stuff like Gears of War, Dead Rising, and Saints Row and there won't be for at least 6 months if they are lucky.Current stats of systems sold as compiled here.360 = 7,733,816Wii = 674,889PS3 = 335,913According to Nintendo there should be over 2 million Wii's shipped by December and people are still lining up at stores when shipments come in. PS3's are going to be hard to come by because Sony can't manufacture anything worth a crap. Not to mention price points... 360 is $200 dollars cheaper than the PS3 and is comparable performance wise, any average consumer is going to opt for the 360 over the PS3 because of price point alone.

Welcome to a console launch, the 360 didnt have a killer app for months either. If the Playstation 2 could catch up to the Dreamcast, the PS3 can catch up to the 360.

And the 360 had a wonderful launch, I didnt need to preorder in july and still camp out 10 hours for a core system. At least Sony is pushing systems out every week. However, nintendo pwned both at launch production.

For $500, you get a more capable PS3 than the $400 360. if you honestly think feature for feature the Premium 360 can even keep up with the base PS3, you are obviously biased. The only two features comparable are the processor and GPU. The PS3 is the clear winner in every other category.

Sony & Microsoft may have a powerful machines but everything's the same as it always has been. What's changed aside from stunning graphics & some additional apps? Sony has had the same controller since the original playstation.. I own PS2 and I think it's nothing special.Pump up the graphics & power all you want but new innovative gameplay experience is the reason I've found my gaming mojo once again.Thank you Nintendo

You forgot to mention the awesome Blu-Ray disc player in the PS3... I would pay double for a 360 if it had one. sw

Whoever comes up with the best exclusive games will win. I hate stupid console wars. I care about the games I can play on the consoles. Right now, with 360 out first they have a much better line up of games, IMHO. But fighting over which has better graphics is dumb. I can show you many "games" with stunning graphics that suck butt, and can show you many less than impressive games with shoddy graphics. Gameplay people. Not the size of the chip.

ok i have a ps3 and i have to say its amazing. The graphics are amazing and also I couldnt figure out how to get my friends xbox 360 to work in 1080p. O wait it doesnt. The PS3 is much more powerful and by the end of next year when developers learn how to use everythhing the system has to offer you will see who is the winner.BTW Blu-Ray will win bc anyone with a PS3 which will be a few million by the end of next year is not going to go out and buy an hd-dvd player.

Well, I got two Wii's. Sold one online for 400, not the number i wanted, but I got free Zelda and Wiimote, so I can't be that upset. I've been playing Zelda and Wii sports, and I love them. Haven't played the PS3 yet, but am looking forward to it.

OK so I was just wondering is this Blu Ray deal an alternative to a DVD player? Are my DVD movies I have now going to work on the PS3 or are you going to have to buy alternative Blue Ray version discs like you do with the PSP?

Welcome to a console launch, the 360 didnt have a killer app for months either. If the Playstation 2 could catch up to the Dreamcast, the PS3 can catch up to the 360.
But you also got to think of what exactly Sony had to catch up to that time. They had to catch up to the Dreamcast, which overheated, had claims of people cutting themselves trying to get the spinning discs to start when they opened the tray, Sega's inability to get third party support from anyone save Capcom (because people had pretty much given up hope in them as a hardware developer after the Saturn/32X), and a bulky controller. Besides, does anyone remember the HIGHEST pushed game on DC (other than Crazy Taxi & Shenmue)? Seaman? Really? The only gimmick on the Dreamcast that was admirable was the internet capabilities. But really, who would be able to honestly say that the Dreamcast WASN'T doomed from the start?

But what format will NON-PS3 owners go to? AFAIK, Xbox360 will have a peripheral (or already has) to play HD-DVD. 360 owners will be using that. That leaves us with non-gamers, and that will depend on where all the titles go (which will in the end, probably go down to the winner of the console war, if I'm right about the 360's HD-DVD peripheral.). If it goes to HD-DVD, they go to HD-DVD. If it goes to Blu-ray, they will go to Blu-ray.

regular dvds work on the ps3blu ray disks are dvds that can hold up to 50 gigs of data so they have the ability to hold very high quality hd movies.

Since the PS3 can read DVD's, I should see no problems in still using your DVD movies.

Eyank is it true that you can turn on/off the PS3 with the wireless controller? If so I am certain my buddy will be all over it. Thats worth the extra $200 right there not having to get off the couch. LOL

I just hope no one here is actually spending $700-$1000 for a PS3 to give to their kid for Christmas. Young kids shouldn't own any electronic that expensive.

You can do that with wii as well...

If I was paying 1K for a PS3, it would go to me anyway, even if I did have kids. I'm a prick like that.

the 360 and the wii do this as well.

Reminder: the 360 had/has overheating issues, scratching disk issues. The #1 thing that killed Dreamcast was their lack of 3rd party support, as you said. Which Microsoft will never have trouble with, as they can buy their own 3rd party support more or less. Also, the 360 controller is almost the same size as the dreamcast controller (dreamcast is a little taller due to the VMU port). Nothing will ever come close to the original xbox controller.
But what format will NON-PS3 owners go to? AFAIK, Xbox360 will have a peripheral (or already has) to play HD-DVD. 360 owners will be using that. I'd agree with this. However, keep in mind that high priced separate console peripherals never sell well. Look at the Gamecube and the PS2's broadband adapter, the Sega CD and the 32X, the Dreamcast broadband adaptor, the 360's own Wireless adapter... so on, so forth. The attachment rate of the completely optional HD-DVD peripheral, only for movies, no games, is bound to be very low. Low enough where it becomes a non-issue in the format war, whereas the Playstation 3/Blu-Ray attachment rate is 100%. Also, the 360 is far from optimal for playback of HD-DVD, since it lacks a true digital AV output, like DVI or HDMI. The only way to get that is to go back and revise the hardware, which would piss off people who already own the 360. Microsoft dropped the ball with their next-gen movie format support.

As Gov mentioned, gameplay is the most important element in videogames. Thanks to Nintendo for taking the risk in pushing videogames to the next level. I look to the future as I pre-order my Nintendo Holodeck.

I was going to sell Zelda with the other Wii I had, but it wasnt going for what i wanted it to go for, so I just opened it the other day. I only just got through the first temple, I'll make a lot of headway in the coming days though.

Sega... Microsoft, different animals. Don't even try to compare them.

Really, how many are they pushing out? Best Buy can't even advertise the system because they can't guarantee how many they are getting from Sony. Quality production....

More capable based on what? When will people learn that hardware specs don't mean a thing if you don't put out good software. To get good software you need third party support, to get that you need systems in houses. You want me to start listing titles that have been pulled from PS3 only status to multiplatform because 3rd part support is wavering based on price point and market penetration? They aren't winning in games, online service or price... keep dreaming.I don't own a 360 or a PS3 though I will probably end up with both at some point. I'm not biased, I'm realistic. The reason PS3's are hot right now is a combination of Christmas and early hardware adopters. A year from now when they are still 3rd in market share you will see.
You forgot to mention the awesome Blu-Ray disc player in the PS3... I would pay double for a 360 if it had one. sw
haha :club: Sony trying to force their format on people, another bad idea and part of the reason they are losing hundreds on every system they sell.
