3 folds, Hero raises to t600, 2 folds, Button calls t600, 2 folds.

Flop: (t1400) J icon_suit_club.gif , 3 icon_suit_spade.gif , A icon_suit_club.gif (2 players)

Turn: (t2600) 7 icon_suit_diamond.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets t1000, Hero raises to t2500, Button folds.

Final Pot: t6100

I really felt he had an A when he smooth called me on the flop i feared is was merely a weak A. I had been raising a lot of hands in late position so i thought it was very possible he was calling me with a pretty strong A. What is your line on this hand? And this may seem like a really loose raise from MP2 but the guy in the bb was sitting out and the guy on the CO is sitting out.

So by this time i was conversing with the guy on my right (the bb) and joking around. He seemed like a pretty intelligent man so i know he noticed the raises I was doing in late position. I kept joking that he was going to double me up and all his money belonged to me, in a friendly way. The thing is every single hand that went to showdown for myself was super strong. I only made one very loose call when I had a much larger stack and decided to gamble when a short stack pushed and i called with 33.

So the play is it good? I know he is showing considerable strength but i thought he was smart enough to know what a limp re raise from UTG shows tons of strength.

Hand 1 I would bet more on the flop. You want to protect better against draws, and build a pot for when the turn and river are safe.

Hand 2 He's a pretty small stack to start with, and he's already commited a good chunk of it with his raise. You dont have FE against any pair here, even if a limp/reraise UTG shows a lot of strength. (And many players dont see it as major strength, especially from a smallish stack. They see it as medium strength hand looking to pick up a lot of dead money.

On the flop with 88 I think you have fold after getting check raised esentially all in. The board is not very draw heavy so this makes it more likely you're beat. Folding still leaves you with a little under 10x the big blind so you wouldn't have to panic. There'd still be plenty of time to wait for a hand. I do think however you could get away from the hand a little cheaper if you did fold. With 7200 in the pot, I like betting 3500-4000 instead of 5000. Its still enough to get folds from hands like overcards and smaller pairs. And, it saves you an extra 1000-1500 when you are forced to fold.

If you had KK and an A flopped would you play this the same way? SB was getting 3:1 odds, so he can have any two cards. The T is as dangerous to our 8s as an A is to KK.

Bet less on the flop...1/3 to 1/2 of the pot is sufficient with such a dry board. Fold to a raise.
