well i misread the hand at first..i see you only started with 275...since CO is a true lag..i might take the chance with the raise on the turn thinking you'll lose the sb and maybe the utg player, but the lag guy might stick around and double us up.the pots getting big tho, at $150, so if you make it $150-175 or w/e it will be obvious you aren't folding...so I might just shove...but with your table image that might not work?duder is potting it tho which to me is a strong hand, but one that he is protecting, like a TP Jack kicker...and maybe even small two pairs.with the lag guy in there just calling I'd assume he has some sorta draw, and not just calling down with bottom pair?any raise will def. push out the sb, but I think you might get action from the lag..and if utg is really strong i dont think he can fold.i wouldn't mind a smooth call and shoveling almost any river if checked to you, or bet into.- Jordan

How about making it like $130-$150 to go. I really think you have raise, so on the river you can get it all in. The straight is pretty well hidden, and since you are a tight player I wouldn't think that people would put you on the 89 here. ohhhh yea and only donkeys chase gutshots. :club:

If we call we have the size of the pot left in our stack and we also let UTG remain as the aggressor. If he bets the river then he would be forced to call a shove with a much wider range than a shove on the turn. You could also squeeze CO for a decent chunk on the river as well, which is one of the main reasons I like slowplaying here.

I like this thinking a lot more than raising since we have position. My first thought was to raise because if I slowplay a flop, the board's usually potentially scarey enough by the turn to raise to protect that hand. Also, gutshots are so hidden that the turn looks like a real blank anyway. Here though, we've really found a great board to slowplay three streets. Problems come if the board pairs.. blah blah, but we probably get called by the type of hands that need the river to pair on the turn and we lose money anyway.

so you say call and then raise allin on the river? what if it is a diamond or the board pairs?

Deal with it, m'kay?Too many variables to say, but basically try to get a cheap showdown. If there is a shove and a call, you can probably fold.

I think we make the most if we call. We dont wanna alert anyone of how big our hand is, and Im sure with David being as solid as he is, a raise may kill action.

I raised to 175. UTG and cut-off folded out of turn. SB went into the tank and finally folded top two pair. Clearly, these results point me toward a flat call. I think that's the right play in general. If someone picked up a back door flush, I'd just have to pay them.

Backdoor flush draws get paid off. I'm not concerned about that. As far as the board pairing... like I said, this hands are calling the turn most of the time and we're losing money when the board pairs anyway. Atleast by calling the turn and pushing the river, we generally will be getting calls from a much wider range of hands that price themselves in.

I think you guys are probably right in this case, I am usually a fan of fast playing but I think I have a much laggier image than David. But if you are going to slow play this is probably a good place to do it.

Other consideration for not fast playing I just thought of as well... even if you are generally a LAG (which I am), you haven't had control of this hand at all, so most people are still likely to give you credit for a hand. It's not like you're firing a second continuation bet. You're waking up on the turn on a very dry board.
