What Was I Thinking?

Recommended Posts

so on bodog today i made up for my original $270 lost by managing to build up my bankroll to a little over $1100. i believe i had a great run of cards at the .5/1 table and was playing today at the 3/6 nl table. all in all i was estatic about winning up to $700 all within 30 minutes of play!so with my new bankroll i played in a $50 MTT and lost and sat down at the .5/1 nl table with a buyin of 50 and ended up losing. a few hours into the night i ended up at the 2/4 nl table again and ended up losing $400. so down to my last $600 or so i bought in to the 5/10 NL game and lo' and behold i ended up losing it all.now as angry as i am - i learned a big lesson today and that is to stop playing poker when you know that a) you don't want to really play and b) you'd rather sleep and relax. i can honestly say that i gambled away my $1000 bankroll haphazardly and didn't put in much effort into playing my A game as i had earlier in the day. so now i'm down to a bankroll on bodog of $0 but atleast i have enough money in my bank account (barely) to cover my present debts to bodog $270 - $130 (already withdrawn from my account) and $150 for this months student loans which really doesn't leave me with anything.i do have a job and i'm making - get this - a measly $15k a year being that it's a part time gig. so to wast $1000 like that in one night is just ridiculous and i realize that i really need to stop when i know i'm not in no frame of mind to play.being that im still young i haven't lost a lot of money gambling in one day but overall i guess i've lost a lot of money. i do recall heading down to AC one day with a $2500 bankroll and losing it all in the pits.i seriousally considered heading on down to the local GA meeting today. i took the 20 question test and i answered yes to a majority of the questions (15/20).so i'm just wondering what's the most amount of money you've ever lost in a day/night? make me feel better by telling me some big numbers haha! :D

lost 1700 in a day before getting tilted at 1/2 nl live by a donkey, i stacked him twice...it was ugly.Had a really bad week of variance two or three weeks ago and gave away 2000 to card racks and my own card deadness

I bought into a $2000 NL game a few months ago and got stacked 1 and a half times in 45 minutes. $3000 pffft, 25% of my bankroll at the time, bye bye. Been there done that, it sucks.

Sometimes the trick is catching yourself before you start chasing or almost (seemingly) actually trying to Donk off your $I too speak from experience. Several times I have gone into a game knowing how much I was "willing to lose". I found myself up and deciding to cash out in 1/2 hour. In that 1/2 hour I went from winner to loser. Often losing the exact amount I was "willing" to lose.I am getting better at recognizing my own tendencies and self defeating proclivities and timing my waves much better.

I lost many fold what you did in one night, doing the same thing. It was one of the worst days of my life (it WAS the worst at that point). It's the most horrible, humiliating thing, and every time I think about the things I was doing chills shoot down my spine and I have to block it out with something else before I vomit. I'm so great now, though, that I've regained it all+. I hope you're awesome AND stupid like me, instead of just stupid, like most people.
