Gilbert started off the year slow but has three 40+ pt games alread. If the Wiz get it together he'll be an MVP candidate. Absolute schooling of Lebron James tonite. Had 4 points halfway through the second quarter and finished with 45. Statline:
FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A REB AST STL TO PTS
14-22 7-11 10-12 5 6 2 1 45

Gilbert's new nickname/theme he coined for himself this year is "The Takeover". Must be a big fan of Nick Schulman.

I'll post updates in this thread on Gilbert's progress throughout the season.

Gilbert Arena's is quickly becoming one of my favorite non-celtics players. I read that write up of his childhood about a month ago, what a great story. Oh yeah and congrats on that big cash gilbertology.

After handing the Mavericks their first defeat in 14 games, Gil leads the Wiz to their first road win of the season two days later against the Knicks.

Beating the Knicks is like banging a fat chick, it's fun to do once in a while, but you don't brag about it to your friends.

Chalk Gilbert down as Eastern Conference player of the week.
In 4 games he's scored 38, 38, 32, and 41 points while leading the Wiz to a 3-1 record. After a slow start to the season, Gil is now en fuego and either the #1 or 2 ranked player in most fantasy leagues.

Tonight's numbers: 41 points, 7 3s, 7 assists, 3 steals

Arenas also released his first ever shoe, the Gil Zero, this week.
In today's game against Houston he played the first quarter with his white shoes, scored 0 points, then went to the locker room to change to the black version of his Gil Zeros for the second quarter. He scored 19 points in the 2nd, including 12 in a row at one point.

*Gilbert takes a bow at center court*
What an amazing performance! Washington franchise record and nba record this season - 60 pts.
Gil outduels Kobe and leads the Wiz to a big win on the road vs the Lakers who had the best home record in the league. They are absolutely on fire. With the Shaqless Heat struggling they can get the #2 seed in the East this year and make it to the Finals if Arenas keeps up this MVP pace.

He won Eastern Conference Player of the league back to back.
This was before he dropped 55 on Nash and the Suns and ended their 15 game winning streak at their home arens no less.
No doubt he's MVP of the league so far, but it's still verry early. Go Gil!~

He is playing out of his mind lately... I bet all those teams that passed on him are kicking themselves in the ass for letting him slip to the 2nd round!

As for the MVP, pretty sure either Arenas, Kobe or Nash will win it this year. The only thing that will hurt
Arenas are those ugly jerseys they wear...

The gold jerseys are sweet. It's the black shorts they wear with them that fukks it all up.

Oh yeah and Arenas is good.

The first time i saw the jerseys they kinda freaked me out. Having seen the Wiz play in them a bunch now, I actually really like them. No other team in the league has jerseys that look like this. The gold jerseys are sweet, the black pants are meh but they go well with the gold.
Gil is a unique player so it makes sense his team has a unique jersey. Oh, and Caron Butler is also playing like a beast. He deserves to make the all-star team but probably won't because of politics and lots of good Eastern forwards like Lebron, JO, etc.

You sir, and Jadaki, are both idiots. Arguing with Jadaki is like arguing with an 18 year old.
I don't know any sportsbooks off the top of my head that have MVP odds, but I'm pretty sure Arenas' would be better than 260-1.
If there were odds up right now he'd undoubtedly be in the top 3. Melo's fifteen game suspension hurt his chances a lot. So Did Yao's broken leg. Nash, Chauncey, and Gilbert would probably be co-favorites at something like 10-1 with Wade and Bron slightly behind. Again, it's still extremely early in the season and of course new MVP contenders will emerge and others will drop out. What I'm saying is that Gil will be a legitimate MVP contender for the whole year, it's what I've said since day one and what I will season after game 82.

Little angry that I constantly prove you wrong?

I like Gilbert, he was a key part of my Fantasy championship team last year at work. He can score very well, gets a few assists and steals, but that doesn't make him an MVP.
