ajs510 122
Looks about 100x worse than Foxtrax, and easier to screw up and get confusing (I'm assuming the goal judge would also control the lights on the net?) Please NHL, just don't.

ajs510 122
I actually like it...it just adds added extra excitement to goals I love everything about the bolded part of that post...love it. IMO, goals don't really need any added excitement. The goal light goes off, the crowd goes wild, a spotlight shines down from the roof on the player that scored, the player responds to the spotlight with a signature fist pump of some kind, big hug at the faceoff spot, and back to center ice to do it all again. Imagine the backlash you would get if the NFL wanted to have flashing goalposts that lit up every time a PAT or Field Goal was made...at some point you have to draw the line between a time honored sport and a video game. TheDaveyG 6
If the goalposts lighting up gets you excited about a goal, then I feel sorry for you. Hockey is a sport that basically sells itself. It doesn't have to whore itself out like baseball, basketball or football. There are always small changes that they could make to improve the game. (getting up on my soapbox) Example; I would like to see a wider T.V. angle. I like to see the open guy at the point waiting to one-time it. I'm sorry, but no camera guy is fast enough to follow a pass from the corner, out to the point, and then a slap shot on net. Just show the whole offensive zone so we can see the play happen. I would say once every three NHL games the goal judge (who is employed by the home team) prematurely sets off the goal light etc. The play usuaully continues when this happens. With these nets, it might cause a lot of players to stop even though the play is continueing.
