The Greatest Game Shows Of All Time

Recommended Posts

1. The Price is Right-I dont care what you have to say, PIR is the greatest game shows ever invented times infinity forever.2. Jeopardy-Its strange how the most basic show can be so popular. I mean, its just a basic Questions and Answers game show, that is unthinkably popular3. Deal or No Deal-I understand this has not been on for long, but this is the first of its kind. The first where every contestent is exploided for how greedy they are. I know Millionaire and Greed had similar deals but this is the first one that is 100% luck. People are willing to risks thousands of dollars for a few more4. Wheel of Fortune-An original, a great variation of entertainment and prize, and it also does test the knowledge of contestent. I put it at 4 because I think its gotta way to 'hollywood' if you will. It always has to be in a different place, or theme or whatever. I also believe the newer 'team' editions runied it. Like Mothers and Daughters or Teachers and Students5. Who wants to be a Millionaire-Again, one of the most basic games possible. You answer questions for money. But no show had ever offered such high prizes before.

Good choices. I would have to have Press Your Luck on there somewhere. Lingo is great as a participatory game.I like Wheel better than Jeopardy. Jeopardy is a better show but Alex Trebek bothers me so much.

i love deal or no deal. its so calculated its like gambling. the longer you go, the better the house odds get. and it just exploits people for their greed, or rewards the smarts. plus howie mandel is actually well suited for it. i wish they wouldn't waste so much time with stories about people and friends and crap. but it is addictive. normally hate game shows, but that one i watch.

I saw an episode of 1 vs 100 this week and it seemed pretty interesting. I would love to see the Ken Jennings episode.

Jeopardy is #1 in my book, AINEC. I've been a fan of this show since freshman year of high school. That's two decades if you must know. Price is Right on sick days is a classic a la the dane cook bit.Street Smarts is fun, disconcerting but fun.Had to love Press Your Luck. no whammy!I used to get a kick out of The Liars Club when I was kid, same with Password and the Pyramid.

Ever see that show with the guy that CRUSHED that game by knowing the pattern?
They did a special on GSN about him. Pretty interesting story.

Good call, CB. I feel good about myself when I go on a good run watching Lingo. Also, does anyone else remember the Scrabble show with Chuck Woolery? I used to love that one, along with Hot Potato.

Speaking of Chuck...Who is on your list for greatest game show hosts?Chuck Woolery is definately on the list.Wink Martindale was good on his shows.Richard Dawson because he hit on all the moms and daughters on FF and could totally belittle, without it being too mean, contestants in the bonus round when they said a really boneheaded answer.

That's pretty much it, with the addition of Bob Eubanks. His reactions to the really out there answers on The Newlywed Game are classic.Plus, Bob Barker for longevity and trying to nail every showcase model that walked through the doors.Edit: And among the worst ever: Regis Philbin. I want to strangle him every time I see a rerun of WWTBAM.

If your gonna talk Nick shows how do you leave out Double Dare 2000?something was wrong with our water and we couldnt use any large amounts of it(like laundry, or taking showers)all we could pretty much do is use the sink. So I drove over to my father's to take a shower and do the laundry and while I was waiting I cooked a pizza turned on the TV and I saw Double Dare was on followed by Legends of the hidden Temple and watched those. Brought back some good times...funny story about PIR. Cause its on Mon-Fri at 11AM here, I havent seen it in years since Im at school/work or sleeping. So I had to wake up early to tke my mom to the hospital for some minor surgery, and I was waiting for her to finshs some paperwork so I could leave and PIR came on, and I was like 'oh boy' and started watching it. Then the ***** in the other bed changed the channel to ****ing Barney and Friends for her kid to watch. Damn that *****.....Damn her.....
