I can't see how you don't call with 9-9 against the SB with that much money in the pot too. SB is going to have to lead out more than likely, which gives you pot odds to call just to try and hit your set. Unless your afraid of another raise behind you, but that's crazy IMO.
As for the other hand,
First off, I don't really consider a raise with Q-10s a blind steal. More like raising in position with a decent hand. I would enjoy seeing two callers behind me in this situation. After the flop, the way you played it IMO is not bad. You didn't do anything wrong. One thought I'll pass your way however...If you really don't know much about your opponent, perhaps checking on the flop and seeing the turn will be to your advantage. You could see a bad card on the turn (A,K, Diamond) but if those cards don't hit, any decent hand will more than likely bet the turn giving away their hand. This way you will be left in a position to call for much less money.
Now I'm a "small baller" as D.N would put it. I don't mind seeing alot of cards before making a decision, so maybe this isn't your style.
