Not Begining or adavnaced poker player books?

Recommended Posts

Been reading through alot of posts here in the books section have not found what I was looking for defenantly. I was looking for a good Intermediate book so far i have seen people discuss beginner books such as "No-Limit Texas Hold'Em" by Brad Daugherty and advanced books like Sklankskys(sp?) Theory of Poker and a few others in both catagorys. Also would Super System and Supersystem2 be good for a intermediate player? So far I have not read any books but have watched both Howard Lederer videos and play a few times a week on Party.

For a good book on limit holdem, try Small Stakes Holdem by Miller, Sklansky, and Malmuth. Great for lower level limit info, especially for online, where everybody plays looser. For No Limit pay no attention to Hellmuth's Play Poker like the Pros, and read either No Limit Texas Holdem by daugherty and mcevoy (its decent, not amazing), or SS1. brunsons style and info on no limit is as good as the best. Another poker book thats very readable for beginners-intermediate, is The Psychology of Poker by Alan Schoonmaker. it provides an excellent look into the different styles of players, how to adjust your game to each style, and how to strengthen your overall style of play. i havent heard this book talked about as much. anyways, hope thats helpful

I liked Lee Jones' "Winning low limit hold'em". It's more or less an intermediate book. It's great for low limits online.I am a very avid reader and have read and reccomend the following (Some that I have read I will not post, as they are poor reads):*Zen and the Art of Poker by Larry W. Phillips*The Tao of Poker by Larry W. Phillips*Winning Low Limit Hold'em by Lee Jones**The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth*Hold'em for Advanced Players by David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth*Super System by Doyle Brunson and others*Small Stakes Hold'em by David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth*The Psychology of Poker by Alan N. Schoonmaker*Tournament Poker for Advanced Players by David SklanskyChampionship No-limit and Pot-limit Hold'em by Tom McEvoy*No-limit Texas Hold'em by Tome McEvoy*The books with the astrosies (these things--->*) are the ones I would highly reccomend for you because they are more interemediate level books. As you finish with theses I strongly recccomend moving on to the rest on this list because they are more advanced and very very informative.

Small-Stakes Holdem is by Ed Miller, David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth. I am not correcting you to be pedantic but the book is good and people who want to find it might miss it in a bookstore if they don't know to look under Miller. His name is first on the cover and that is what we went by back when I was in retail books. Also, Ed deserves credit for his contribution, which was large. He did a great deal of the writing as you can tell because he is a much clearer writer than Sklansky, although not as great a theorist but who is. I wouldn't recommend so MANY books myself but nothing wrong with the list.
