I lived in Mexico city, and I go all the time...I guess it depends what you're looking to do, if you want to party you'll have a hard time finding a cool place unless you know someone that lives there, or else you'll ask a cab driver and they'll take u to some tourist spot like senor frogs and sht. I havent been there in over a year, and clubs change all the time but you can PM me and I can find out for you. If you want to sightseeing...well, I guess you can. Im not a big fan of seeing stuff even when Im in europe and stuff but you can go to "Castillo de Chapultepec" or take a 1hr trip to the Tehutihuacan Pyramids (sp?), thats actually pretty cool... Keep in mind Mexico is going through a crisis at the moment, because one of the idiot presidential candidates didn't like the fact that he wasn't elected so he told his voters to organize a peace strike and a lot of them have pretty much paralized the down town area of the city....Im not sure if this is still going on, I havent kept up really in the past month, but again, I can find out for u....If you're the partying type I would have recommended Acapulco instead, but during this time of the year it's probably 100% dead..Mexico City might be really good for partying at this time if you go to the right places, hottest/classiest girls ever and nonstop drinking is guaranteed.oh also, best food on earth in mexico city...I'd say vegas is a close second for food, but vegas is pretty much good steak sushi or buffet and thats about it....if you go PLEASE do not be the tourist that visits a different country and eats mcdonalds every day, I had freinds like that in Europe and it pissed me off. I could send you the names of good restaurants too.Once you get past the insecurity and dirtyness of certain areas, mexico city is great, tons of culture and you can have fun everywhere...edit: my mom just told me the whole presidential scandal is over with so you most likely dont have to worry about not being able to access certain tourist spots.
amen to that my friend. i could go on and on about this for hours but i wont. Cultureless fools!!
..ok so what do i do now?..

I've decided to go to San Francisco for the weekend. What's interesting or fun to do there? Any good comedy clubs or restaurants? Also, in case I get the poker itch, where's the nearest card room where I can get my quick fix? fyi, I'll be staying with my friend near 24th/Mission.
I live pretty close to 24th and mission. There's some cool bars in the mission and tons of places to eat.As far as poker, Lucky Chances is the biggest one that's really close. The players are just as bad as you've probably heard about California players.

so here is a little info that may (or may not) be helpful:places to eat:The Stinking Rose: if you like Italian food and garlic this place is the ****. the food is sooooo good, but has lots of garlic. which to me makes it better. It is in the North Beach district/little italy. I'm sure if you look it up you can find it.Cheesecake Factory: This place has all types of food and it is realllllly good. Their desserts are bomb but there is always a wait so if you wana go, show up like 45 mins before you want to eat then walk around Union square. It is in Union square in the top of Macy's. Union square is sweet too.Max's Opera Cafe: not sure of the best location of this, but it is a deli-like place with a lot of SF feel.Things to check out:Golden gate bridge is pretty sweet to walk across. It is free (besides parking) and has some sick viewsThe St. Francis Hotel at night: This is in union square and if you can sneak into the back in the elevators that go to the top, you will get one of the nicest views of union square/the city at night around.Ghiradelli: Best chocolate in the world. enough said. Make sure you visit the factory place it is right by one of the cable car turnarounds and the desserts are unbelievable and the chocolate is bomb.sorry im not much help on the clubbing or bar scene im not quite legal yet :club:

Any bars or restaurants around 24th/Mission that I should definitely go to? Also, any comedy clubs in SF that I should check out?Yeah, I might be tempted to go to Lucky Chances on Friday cos my friend will be working till 5pm on that day. Or I might just decide to sleep in.

Send me a PM about more specifically what you're looking for. Some of the places the guy a few posts up posted were places I consider complete nightmares (Cheesecake factory, etc...) Kinda depends on what you're going for.I have Friday off and have been wanting to play a live tourney lately, I'll check and see if there's one running during the day.

I just checked the website of Lucky Chances and it says that the only tournament they have on that day is a $500+50 Spread Limit Holdem Shootout. That's kinda too expensive for me. If they have a cheaper tournament and it ends by 5-ish, I'll definitely be willing to go.

Ok, so I've set my mind on going somewhere this weekend, from Thursday thru Monday. Here are the 4 options I currently have.1. Go to Mexico City with friends.2. Go to San Francisco and visit a friend.3. Go to Las Vegas for poker.4. Go to LA and play in some events in the Commerce Holiday Bonus tournaments.I'm pretty much indifferent towards the 4 options. Any inputs? I understand that there's some unrest in Mexico due to the disputed Presidential elections and the troubles in Oaxaca, but it should still be ok. I've only been to Vegas once and have never been to San Francisco or LA.
Vegas Baby! Though I LOVE San Francisco so much.

What's cool in San Fran? The only reason why I'm indifferent to SF compared to Mexico, Vegas and LA is that my friend who's there is a really special friend and I haven't seen her for a while now. However, there's nothing in SF itself that makes me look forward to visiting it, hence my indifference to the SF option.
I was born and raised in San Francisco. There are so many things you can do. Just ask your friend and she will know what to do. I still only live 40 minutes south of it. Also, go to Georgios and order and #2 Calzone. GREAT STUFF!

Here's my trip report for Day 1. Cliff notes versionGot into Oakland Airport after a 4 hour flight sitting next to two gay guys who were constantly flirting with each other throughout the flight. Took the BART to my friend's place and easily found my way there. The seats in the BART train smelt funny though. My friend mentions that she wants to watch this artsy movie that she's been intending to watch. I oblige. -EV call. Movie (Cremaster 3 by Matt Barney) was 3 hours long and I got intensely bored and angry that the movie wouldn't end. Movie eventually ended and we dropped by a taqueria near her place. I was tempted to go out to Colma and play at Lucky Chances last night...on hindsight, that would have been +EV. Being forced to watch an artsy movie is simply spewing EV.Anyway, she's at work now and I got to sleep in. Will be going to downtown later for dinner and we're going for a party at her friend's place. Hopefully that's going to be +EV.Will update more soon.Cliff notes version - Poker > Artsy movie. AINEC.
